Charlene, what precious dogs you had. I bet Flag ontheplay was a real character wasn't he. He has the look of a sibe that is a real happy go lucky type of dog. And Juneau... I love those reds. Sad that you lost her so untimely. Funny thing is that the same thing happened to one of our sibes at almost the exact same age.
And Shelley, you know I LOVE those pictures of your dogs!
I wish I had pictures of the other 2 that I grew up with, but they were gone out of my life when I was young. Bandit was our first and we just didn't totally understand the breed or pet store practices. Then there was Sweet And Sour Candy. She passed away by the time she was 2 of liver failure. We think that a rawhide treat was toxic and caused it, but have no proof as she was really healthy acting as a young puppy.
Then there was Misty, my pound puppy. She was a German Sheppard Siberian Husky cross. She was a really good girl, lived to be an amazing 15 years old. She definately looked part sheppard, had the voice of a sheppard, yet was marked like a sibe and had those sibe ears. I am not sure that I have a picture of her as I didn't have a camera when I was first married.
Here are 2 others of ours. Actually these were my parents, but after playing with them almost every single day at the farm and housesitting, they were almost like my own. I even would take them with me places sometimes.
The dog on the left is Artic Sadow. She was a real escape artist and would plot ways to run out the gate as you came in that gate. Shadow passed away while I was house sitting at the all too young of an age of 11. We don't unerstand why, it was just sudden virus type of thing and even though I got to the vet with her within hours of her showing symptoms, she passed the following morning. It was so hard as the vet really thought she would make it. And when I got that aweful call, Arty and I sat together crying.
And the dog on the right is Artic Wine. Arty was no relation to Shadow. Notice the right eye, it is a bicolored eye and made him look like his eyelid was droopy. He was very much Shadow's soul mate and his whole goal in life was to do what ever he could to please anyone. Arty was 9 when he passed away. We say he died of a broken heart, but it was a ruptured tumor on his spleen. This happened not even 2 months after Shadow passed away. Arty never did get beyond his greiving over the loss of Shadow, and I will say that I am at peace knowing that the two are together at the rainbow bridge. But boy do I miss the two of them.
