Put it back Angie!

My mind is always in the gutter

On the back porch it's not uncommon at all for a post that's done later in the day to get no replies until the next day.

I don't think anyone was offended or didn't think it was funny. The majority don't reply to those posts even though many read them anyway and get a good chuckle from them (me included :bgrin )

Give it another shot! I always like to read the silly stuff

: Ok.....I did recieve a couple emails about this being x rated on a family forum....I laughed more at those then what I had typed.......but figured I would stay out of trouble so I deleted it...lol Not a problem...but here ya go....

I had been to Tampa.... on my way there I saw maybe 25 buildings advertizing PEEP SHOWS...I asked my husband ....WHY do they call them Peep Shows.. ......so guys go there and watch movies about Chickens PEEPING? And while I am at it ...why do they call them PEEPING TOMS...do they come up to your window at night saying PEEP PEEP...like a chicken.? Should it not be Peaking Shows...and Peaking Toms? as Chickens go peep peep...Then my husband saidf i had way to much time on my hands....then I thought what a wonderful hour in my day...that I had nothing of importance on my mind...just time to think about something stupid...But I still want to know the answer if anyone knows.....Thanks Angie

Well I don't have an answer but I love that you said you had time in the day to think of stupid things.

Unfortunately, I do that way too often because I'm a worry wart and always thinking of silly things.

P.S. Thanks for sharing!! I too had looked after it was gone.

: ' glad when I went to the link and found out where the saying came from -

Peeping Tom

A peeping tom or 'a voyeur' comes from the story of Lady Godiva's ride in the nude through Coventry, when a tailor named Tom spied on her.

Makes me giggle..

Angie, hope your feeling good and enjoying the warmth, chilly here.. In fact it's downright COLD and getting Colder this weekend...

If people were offended by that post, boy they'd just love to spend some time around me! They'd probably better bring some ear plugs

Angie, you got letters over that? Please!! C'mon that is funny. Heck, we've had horsey porn posted on here. Your thoughts are tame in comparison. lol

Funny.

This is the BACK PORCH -- glad you put the post back.

I saw the references (on google and goodsearch) about Lady Godiva and Peeping Tom - and also did search for definition of "Peeping Tom" but they still did not explain Peep vs Peek (Peak is the top of a mountain as in pinnacle, or a cooking term like the top of whip cream)

Best I could find -- is that "peep" is a british synonym for "look" or "peek" -- thus peeping.

Good laugh tho!

That's right.

Peep- look furtively, or through a narrow aperture.

Also to peer through as in, Flowers peeping through the Spring soil.

I do think the Peeping Tom origin is probably true.

Also "peek" means the same thing but it also means the top of the mountain, it's just spelt differently!!!- and we think German is a difficult language!!!!

Well I am not much further ahead...lol I was not sure of the spelling as like you said they both sort of mean the same thing... But I sure do appreciate all the look ups that have been done...I have not lost any sleep over this...but is a question...I have pondered about for quite awhile...
