For those of you have used Domperidone, can you please tell me if it's ever caused one your mares to be crampy or collicky at all??? I'm using the Equitox brand.

Thanks!!!

I have used it a few times and have never noticed any ill effects from it. I also accidentally gave a fairly large dose of it to a young(weanling) colt a year or 2 ago, thinking I was giving Probios. I was quite worried about that, but all was OK with him too, and he never showed any ill effects from it either.

I gave it to a maiden mare and she ended up milking like a cow.... yealring in now 35 inches LOL. And gave it to an older mare cause she didnt have much of a bag. Both mares had no ill effects and raised the foals great. The tube I have here is also Equi-tox......

The major positive about Domperidone is that it does NOT cause the cramping that Oxytocin does. However, it is difficult to obtain......If it were up to me I would keep a supply in my foaling kit (as a breeder). The oxytocin would be used only to help expell a stubborn placenta.
