you know I hear this all the time......yet I have had ZERO problems ever when dealing with rescues and shelters......in fact I have been offered lgd's on 3 occasions now but due to my current dog population I am not in the market for one.....of course when I finally am there won't be any I am sure.....lgd's live out and so long as you have proper perimeter fencing and a barn or other such dry area I have never had a reputable person tell me otherwise (that is just silly people who know what they are doing wouldn't require an lgd be kept inside)
Well they are out there believe me, I have dealt with 2 of them and can't get one.. Also with all the red tape vet reports every year for up to 5 years and or longer, that is just too much paper gooblety goop to deal with.

E-Bay now has this posted on their site:

"Thanks for your additional feedback. While we had hoped to be able to find common ground on the issue of facilitating local shelter adoptions on eBay.com, it appears that sentiment among our members is strongly going the other way. In short, the dominant point of view we’ve heard is that you do not want pet listings – whether for adoption from shelters or from commercial breeders – on eBay.com. Consequently, we will not pursue the idea further.

We have initiated a preliminary discussion with Betsy Saul, President of Petfinder.com – a site that many of you suggested – to talk about possible ways we might work together. We will let you know what we find out."

That is great and clearly EBAY have shown that if the demand isn't there the supplier won't be either!

I must say that I have been involved with shelters/rescues for years and see they do wonderful work!

Sometimes their rules can be so restrictive as to become ridiculous and selfdefeating!

However, they have become this way because of what they have seen and their experiences with the unbelieveable cruelty and IMO worse still complete 'lack of empathy and responsibility' that so many 'pet purchasers' have!

I must say I could not believe the numbers of people who saw their living, breathing fury family members as completely disposable and renewable when their mood changed!!!!!!!!!!

The one I will never forget was a well dressed happy family with their 2 cute kids arriving at the shelter with their sweet, gentle and kind 9 year old springer spaniel. They didn't want her any more because "she was old and the kids wanted a pup", when asked if there was anything wrong with the dog behavioural/health, the mother replied "No, she is a good dog just not much fun anymore". After surrendering her and the kids didn't show any emotion or say goodbye to her, the mother asked if we(the shelter) had any pups available

The lady behind the desk almost lost it and the lady left confused as to why we were offended by her request
