I'm planning on registering Doc pinto this year and gradually register my pinto mares as well, but want Doc done first.. Anyway, if I do a breeding report through pinto (I realize I will have to pay the late fee) will his foals this year then be PtHA registrable even if the dams are not (though they are AMHA/AMHR and AMHR respectively), through Doc alone? And I have to fill out the registration form for him correct? Or is that form just for 'grade' horses and there's another form for horses already registered in outcross registries?

Pretty sure the resulting foals will be eligible for PtHA registration.

I am not sure that you will be any farther ahead $$$ wise by filing a late stallion report. You should be able to register any pinto foals using their outcross papers (AMHA or AMHR) anyway. Once the mares and stallion are PtHA registered and you do the stallion report, then it will be easier to register foals but I am not sure it saves you any money. I admit I haven't checked the costs though.

Hmm good point tartgetsmom! Main goal right now is to get Doc registered, and then I'll work on mares/foals

Thanks again!

I would like to know if the pedigree starts 'blank' if I hardship a stallion with pinto.org? Or do they accept the pedigree? Does anyone know?

Farina mine have their pedigree printed on their pinto papers and I hardshipped them in.

I would register him and send in a stallion report. You can then register the foals at regular registration cost with a copy of mares out cross papers. Your pedigree won't be blank, pinto recognizes out cross pedigrees.

When I registered my APHA colt in PtHA neither of his parents were PtHA, they accepted the APHA papers of the parents and issued PtHA papers. I can see where you would want to register Doc

as PtHA I think it is a great idea...more versatility.

You guys have said hardship, is there a hardshipping form? Or do I just use the registration form?

I've got several I want to add pinto.. Been meaning to do it since I bought Doc, just haven't had the time/funds to get it all done..

I just fill out the regular registration form and include the outcross papers, I think on the form there is even a spot to tell the outcross info. It is fairly straight forward when you start filling it out and if you have questions just call the office at Pinto and they can help you too! Hope this helps.

This from the http://www.pinto.org/registration.html "Accepted miniature outcross breeds are:

•American Miniature Horse Association

•American Miniature Horse Registry

•International Miniature Horse Registry

•World Class Miniature

PtHA can also register horse mares and geldings based on their color alone as well as any sex of ponies and minis.

The PtHA does not accept any horses with Appaloosa, draft or mule breeding and/or characteristics or known breeding within the previous four generations.

Horse stallions cannot be registered unless both parents are registered with PtHA or a PtHA approved outcross breed. Ponies and miniature stallions can be registered with undocumented parentage."

There is more information on the above mentioned page as to registering by color alone. In other words pinto accepts registrations on color just as AMHR is based on height. To my knowledge there is no "hardship" for pinto.
