Was on my home from work (I'm about 20 miles from home) when my husband called to ask me if I knew who to call about 2 pitbulls. He works from home and heard commotion outside. He looked and saw 2 pitbull dogs running the fence(chainlink)line biting at the fence and my two minis running very excitedly.
He said they were friendly to him and were easy to catch (had collars but no tags) and we had a large crate/kennel so he put them in there. Husband drove around the area to see if anyone was looking for them but no luck.
Called the animal control folks and said they would be out possibly that same night. Well no show. I was so nervous about having them in my garage. But also felt bad for them as I knew what their probable demise would be. anyway we walked them, fed and watered them and they slept very peacefully.
Then next afternoon the animal control officer came and she took them away.
she told my husband that anytime in harris county it is lawful to shoot a dog that is a danger to livestock. Good to know this for the future.
I'm so very thankful that the horses were in the drylot and not out in the yard with only the board fence protecting them. We had given thoughts to replacing the chain link with matching board fence but now we are going to keep the chain link.
We have lived here for 6+ years and have never seen these 2 dogs. I believe someone just dropped them off.
Just wanted to share a good ending with you and something else I can be thankful for.
