Hi all. My mini mare is due anytime now and I noticed 2 days ago that she suddenly doesn't look as wide. At first I thought she had maybe foaled a stillborn but she hasn't. Baby is still moving lots. She hasn't bagged up yet and isn't really loosening on the back end. Is it normal for her to get less wide? I don't know how else to describe it. I was away last year when she foaled so I didn't see how she prepared. Any help would be much appreciated.

Rhonda, lots of ours look that way late term, less width and more hanging lol If you've searched everywhere and she has no signs of foaling, it's likely she's just one of those that shape change near the end when the foal is getting into position, and that tummy gets V shaped. Keep us posted, sounds like she could be close!

Hi, and dont worry, its very common for a mare to look big and pouchy one day and narrow the next..it just means the baby is getting into position to be born :bgrin Corinne

Thank you Ladies!! I am really excited. This will be my only horse foal this year I think. (I have a quarab that looks like she might be pregnant. If so it was a mini stud. tee hee) The other foal will be a mini donk in August. I am really hoping for a pinto filly so keep your fingers crossed for me! lol.

OK. I took some pictures of her. The first was taken 2 weeks ago

And these were taken yesterday. She is starting to bag up a bit and her tail seems a bit loose. What do you think?

: Her tail head does look a bit more prominent too, I'd say Jr-ette is getting ready to appear!

OMG, sorry but chuckling here, that poor girl, if she's not pregnant she's posessed! Makes me feel much better about my mare thats 9 months and HUGE to me! If I were you I'd be watching this girl closely.

tee hee. I thought she was wide too but I am fairly new to this. She didn't get this wide last year. And she is even bred to a smaller stallion this year. So far nothing although she is filling up quite a bit in front of her bag. Tomorrow is my birthday so I am hoping for a gift!! tee hee. Peach was my birthday gift last year. Thanks for your opinions!!
