Printed Books are still hot

Interesting article. I love Kindle books but I do continue to read printed ones as well. There is just something "different" about a physical book. However, I have no desire for a huge personal library of books I'll never read again (anticipating another move in the next couple of years...), so I use the Kindle version as a screening tool to find out what is worth buying in print.

That way everything taking up physical space is something I know I'll enjoy rereading.

That article is interesting. I keep wavering between getting a Kindle or not, especially when I keep seeing free e-books being offered. But my biggest problem is that I have that hoarder mentality - I love the beautiful covers on my bookshelf. Not to mention, with as much money as I spend on my books, I hope that someday if something were to happen to me, my husband would be able to sell them for at least a portion of what I've spent. If I had a Kindle and became as obsessive with it as I am with my physical books, I fear having access at the push of a button would send us into the poor house. Lol.

We had a small independent book store that closed because of lack of sales. Couldn't compete with the ebooks even though everyone said they wanted a book store down town. Guess they forgot they actually needed to buy from it.

Years ago we had a small bookstore in my town. I wasn't as obsessed with reading at that time, like I am now. They are long since gone, and I would give anything to have another one here now.

Yay! Seriously, I would truly die if printed books ceased to exist. I LOVE books, the feel of them, having bookshelves for them, the artwork, maps, the smell of them. I still have some of the books that I had when I was a kid, from back in the early 1960's. I gotta have my printed books.

My reading books are on my kindle. But I still buy printed craft books on weaving, quilting, beading, and crocheting. I like having them in front of me and use them over and over. Reading books are great on the kindle as I only read a book once and then it is usually given away or put in storage. My hobby books however are displayed throughout my home and I look through and reread them all the time.

I'm like you, I read a book once, but my quilt books and magazines are the ones that get looked at more. Always checking patterns over and over again.
