Marty, I'm so glad you posted this. I have been so mad at my dealer. I use the Purina Natures Essentials Born to Win and they went up from $14.65 to $16.65 per bag..$2....I have been so distressed as what to do. I am now trying to get samples of the Farnam Platform for Miniatures and Ponies..to see if I will change..I'm afraid cost won't change much since you have to feed more of the Platform. I have in the past felt like the cost shouldn't be an issue when health is concerned but I think this is a bit much of a jump and a matter of principle. My hay prices went up 50 cents a bale which I felt was reasonable in light of the gas price increases.

The Miniature horse & Pony feed isn't in stock yet, but the other Platform feeds in the local store are $14.98/bag; so I don't see much of a savings when you consider the larger quantities fed of the PLatform over a ration balancer product.

It costs more per bag, but I'll stick with my ration balancer. I'm currently going through 3 bags a month for 5 horses (4 minis and 1 full-size), in November that will go down again as the youngsters (3) will all be due for a change in quantity according to the feed chart.

Remember who now OWNS Purina~! Nestle's bought them a few years ago so this maybe one reason is Nestle is wanting more money for there product not Purina.

And that is why I am going to have MY OWN mixture made up at the feed mill. I had done this several years ago. And now is the time to have it done again

I feed Platform,,,,,,,,,,,it's great stuff! Just my opinion after seeing my horses on it for a good while now. I pay $11.65 a bag. I get it at TSC. Talked to the manager there, he said the Platform Mini would be in the first of September, and at $11.95 a bag,,,,,,,,,,with tons of $5 coupons coming with them!!! :aktion033:

But a business is in business to make a profit. They owe that to the owners / stockholders. I do not see an issue with a 3.5% or less price increase on a product. That's just about inflation, not additional profit.

I wish our local TSC had those prices, it would be better.
