All these responses have been very interesting! I learn something new every single time I come on here.

And the funny story behind this - well funny now that it's straightened out...not so funny in the beginning.

I woke up from a deep sleep early Monday morning, sat straight up, gasping and clutching my chest...all because for some unknown reason the notion that Spirit's dam was palomino just popped into my head.

I have NO idea why, no idea where it came from and no idea why in the world I'd wake up thinking about something like that.

So, from there it all spiraled out of control!

O M G! His dam is not who I think it is, he's not really the horse his papers say, he's not really blah, blah, blah. I ran through the house, pulling out paperwork, looking at emails of pictures, looking at the studbook! I was a nutcase (yes, more than usual...even for me lately). I was totally freaked out! But I have the test to prove he's EE AA CrCr nn (for silver) and nn for LWO, so I was even more confused.

So, I post on here as soon as I get a break from work and I even called his breeder!

Poor Laura was so nice and patient with me. She calmly explained, no, his dam was not palomino, she was the most golden of buckskins!

Whew! I have NO idea what makes my mind come up with some of the crazy stuff it does. But fortunately I have sane and knowledgeable people around to me to straighten me out!

I have not read the whole thread, I was just posting to clarify my original statement.

By "Black" I mean any Black based animal.

No, a visually Red horse cannot hide Black, but a visually Black animal can hide Red!
