Is there any way to catagorize your books? Like if there are three books in a series, can you list those three books by each other? Or do you have to go searching through your whole list to find them at random? Or do they go by date from when you download them? There are just too many books out there that I want! I'm seriously thinking about getting a Kindle, to save me room, money, and time (waiting for books to arrive in the mail). But then, how on earth can I have a good variety of books in paperback, and others on an electronic device. Oh, the dilemas....

This may be a stupid question, but I've been looking at a kindle and I guess you need wii fii to purchase? How do you get that? My computer doesn't have it and when I ask the sales associates what I was supposed to do, they had no answer. How do you kindle users get around that problem?

I think there is a way to categorize, but I've never felt the need to look into it. You can zip through your library in seconds, so I haven't bothered.

You do NOT need wi-fi to download books -- we don't have it, and yet I constantly download books. Amazon has its own wireless "Whispernet" that works great, even out here. We can't get digital television (actually, we probably could if we liked tv enough to find the right antenna angle), but I have no problem getting my books.

You don't need wifi you just need 3G phone service in your area.

You have to categorize online I believe but I have never done it. I usually remove any books I've already read from my kindle so I don't have pages and pages of books stored on it.

They come with books already programed in? I would rather pick out my own, so that's good they can be deleted. Next time I go into town shopping, I'll stop in a store and ask more questions. My phone is with Time Warner so I will also check with them to see if I have the 3G's.

Okay the first kindle (that I have) can not be categorized. The kindle fire can and the newest B&W kindle can.

No kindles don't come with books in them already. You browse and load what you want. You can remove a book from your device at any time but it will remain in your "kindle account" so if you want to read it again you can. You can delete if from your account totally by logging in online and deleting it directly. There are thousands of free books you can download and the titles change all of the time. I read mostly free books. Also books go on sale a lot. Like the January BOTM "Cart before the corpse" was on sale for $1.99 for a long time. Now it is back to $10. I am in love with my kindle. My husband, not so much...

There is an app you can get for the Kindle to organize the books on a book "shelf." I got my Kindle Fire for Christmas from my parents. At this point I don't see it replacing regular books, but it will be handy at times I want to have more than one book with me for traveling, etc, and I can borrow some books from the library including newer releases. I think books I really like I will continue to buy in paper to have on hand that way.

With the older kindles, you can make collections (or categories) I don't remember what it was called. But you make these categories and then can move books into them or delete them out. I made several of these on my kindle for books by certain authors. The collections stayed at the top of the page followed by the rest of the books on the kindle.

I do like the cloud with my kindle fire as it does show you the cover of the books. I too would love to have a description of the book available.

I am reading the Complete Wizard of Oz Collection ... a fun read so far

Right now I'm trying to think of a way to redecorate my bedroom where I can fit in another bookshelf. I really do hate the thought of not buying the physical books. Perhaps some day I'll get a kindle for books I want to read that are only released as ebook, but I'm gonna hold out as long as I can. Lol

Lois, did you find a collection of them where all the books are similar (or the same) in size? Or are you reading them on Kindle as well?

You can always use a Kindle much as some use paperbooks -- read the book and then decide if you want to invest in the hardcover version for your bookshelves.

In addition to being able to blow up the text so thatI can read comfortably, it's also nice as a book addict to be able to always have books with me -- waiting at the doctor's office, waiting at the DMV, travel, etc. The Kindle fits easily into my purse and I have all of my Kindle books with me at any time.

I download Kindle material all the time and I live in dial up country. Never had a problem. I use my Kindle to borrow books and I also use it to "send free sample." That way if there is a book I think I might want to read but not sure, I can read the free sample and make the decision.

We have a data limit on our internet and our Kindle isn't 3G capable (we still have "dumb" cellphones, so no need for 3G devices...) so sometimes I will shop for books on the Amazon website and then take the Kindle with me to McDonalds/etc (anywhere with free WiFi) and download the books from there!

I thought I was the only person left who doesn't have a SmartPhone. Lol. I think taking your Kindle to a place with free WiFi is a wonderful idea!

I was thinking the same thing! Not that they aren't handy, but sheesh the cost of them seems crazy to me. I guess if I had one, I could leave my Kindle at home and read on my phone instead!

I use a track phone so 3G's here either. I could buy it from Time Warner for an addition $10 per month so still going over my options.

I have the cheap AT&T internet on my phone. It's like $15/month for unlimited. Today, my phone decided it didn't want to let me on the internet at all. I was so upset, I couldn't get onto Facebook or LB until I got on my laptop.
