Alright...

My stallion is a silver bay pinto, tobiano who looks to have sabino too. He is by a liver chestnut tobiano, out of a solid black.

My mare is a solid buckskin. Her sire is a buckskin (who threw alot of pintos), out of a champane (I believe a solid).

Last year they gave me a pinto colt, who I'm having trouble figuring out what color he is. My best guess is a smokey black. Is that even possible?

This year I got a buckskin pinto colt.

Its just so different, the two colors.

Can someone explain the genetics to me please? I find it very interesting, but confusing!

Thanks, Erin

The cream gene (from your buckskin mare) X bay stallion can equal buckskin

Heres the percentages from the color calculator. As you can see smokey black was a possibility!
