Do you have any?

Maybe you just want to revisit something you've previously read, or go through your collection, or redecorate your shelves? Perhaps you're anticipating the release of a new book, or wanting to try a new author/genre?

All of the above, I have already changed things around trying to make more room for new books. I am looking into buying a nook or kindle, even though I like the feel of the real thing.

I'm not one for much advance planning, although I do love making lists. Fortunately, mt reading does just fine without planning...I read 94 books on Kindle in this past year, not counting those that are not yet finished or print books.

I do plan on getting serious with my writing in 2013, both creative (I have two books in progress) and journalistic.

I have decided that it's time to get rid of the books on my shelves that I can't ever imagine myself reading. I was saving them for a rainy day, but since I have close to 400 books on my wishlist, I hope that I can buy 4 or 5 every month. Which means, I'll need more room for them. Lol. I'd also like to stop spending so much time online (especially on Facebook) because I find that most of my bad moods appear after reading how negative people can be. That should leave plenty of time for reading. My ultimate goal is to read at least 200 books in 2013.

I stopped spending so much time on facebook by blocking farmville which my daughters started me playing. Then I blocked people who sent me obscene photos then blocked people who started sending negative messages. Some really got nasty during the election time. Really cut down on the useless clutter. I also got rid of a lot of books that I just couldn't get into. I still have some of those that I will never read but they are old classics that I found in sales.

Oh Lucky, you just explained my recent Facebook activity to a T. I have been deleting a few people for the exact same reasons - the negativity and just overall true colors coming out. I have spent a lifetime full of hate, jealousy, and misery. It wasn't until I lost my closest friend, almost ruined my marriage, and nearly committed suicide, that I finally decided that I wasn't the person I wanted to be and I began taking steps to change who I was. The past three years have been the happiest of my life, and I owe that to removing myself from close family members that brought the worst out of me, forums that caused me to get upset or argumentative, finding a job that I absolutely love (most of the time), and spending my free time curled up with a book. My blood pressure is now within normal range, and I just overall feel great. I have weeded out the people on my Facebook that like to cause problems or bring others down. Life is just too short to dwell on the negative.

I hear you! The main person I blocked loves horses, always posting about how great God is and then turning into one of the most bigoted person during the election process. I didn't like her nasty and hateful language even though I understand she has a right to her opinion. So I blocked her and had peace of mind afterwards. So glad you made it through and found your happy place.
