A few weeks ago Liz told me she was looking forward to my pix of real snow on the forum :)

So here they are from our last big storm about a week ago.

When we get a bad east blizzard I get kind of overwhelmed getting everyone dug out and a trench dug to keep my minis from crossing the fence when the snow gets packed down enough to walk on! And these are cattle panels, not the short mini ones.

New2minis,

If the wind had not been blowing it probably would have just been about one and a half to two feet but the drifts are 4 to 5 feet.

Oh Susan........I'm glad I visited when I did :bgrin

I love snow, but my 14 inches at New Year's was enough :new_shocked:

Blueberry isn't burried under all that is she.......or your other tinies???

Haha Lindsay,

I am so glad you visited when you did also :)

And nope no one is buried :)

My daughter is working in Santa Fe, so she felt right at home I am sure! haha

Mary Lou, we are on the high plains and do not have trees. That is why it drifts so bad.

But we are close to the mountains (just about 9 miles) for if we want to see trees :)

Loved the pics Susan! We dont have that much snow but it was COLD! Its been warming up though and it almost feels like summer compared to what it has been haha! I can NOT STAND cold weather! Let me know when you are moving south and I will come with you haha!

Strawberry is looking GOOD! She looks so much bigger then she really is! I still need to get up and visit! I didnt come ONCE last year! This year I promise!

Gage

Yes Gage is right. We also were having temps well below zero with that storm. :-(

And the temps have still been below zero most nights since. But it is up to about 27 right now!! I better get out and get some hooves trimmed in this heat wave!

Strawberry is about 26 " I think, Gage. I'll have to measure her. But she will not really be 2 until mid July.

I am so happy with her :) And yes you BETTER come see my babies this year! :)

Very pretty. We had an unusual amount of snow this year, also....here is a pic of my barn in the snow recently:

I thought I heard that the LA area got some "sorta real" winter weather...?

not that it compares to what you have, Susan, but kind of unusual...

Thanks for sharing, Susan, I love seeing the vast, open plains around your home.

Liz, That picture is so beautiful you need to make Christmas cards out of it!! :)

And hopefully by this time next year I will have my bigger barn to take pics of also in the snow. My builders are trying to get a log house done up the road from me and I guess they did not realize just how long of a process and intricate that log house was , but I have told them I just really want my new barn done in time for foaling season :)

I'll never complain about snow again when we end up with a few inches in Ohio - like today :bgrin

Love the snow pictures! We are just getting a little this year which is unusual for WI. Our parents in Fort Collins Colorado have so much snow, record amounts! Thanks for sharing your horses in the snow!

Susan - you are TOO sweet!!!! Wow!!!! :new_shocked: That is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!! :aktion033: I still have a video you sent to me years ago of your horse Hal running through the snow - all you could see on the video was pure white snow every where, with a little horse head sticking up - bouncing up and down, up and down!!!
