I am so very sorry for your loss. It's never an easy decision. I have lost a mare, a dog and a cat in the past year and it's never easy to lose a pet that you love. I take some comfort in knowing that the animals I have lost are waiting over the rainbow bridge who those that have just crossed and will be there to take care of them. That probably sounds silly but it does help me. Okay, now I'm really in tears.
