It's a great time to check and change your smoke / carbon monoxide detector batteries for alarms not hardwired to your homes. Change your clocks, and change your batteries!!!

Thats a great reminder Jill. We switched batteries in ours last month. You can never be too careful! We have one in every room (four battery and two electric), except in the two bathrooms. I've almost lost my home to a fire twice, so I'm not taking any chances!

I am terrible about this...I don't know why either. We too have had a bad fire when I was young so you would think I would take care of them, but for some reason I don't. Now having fire extinguishers around I am OCD about...over the summer our lawn tractor caught fire while I was using it and we had an extinguisher handy in the garage, which we used. I have to go to the store tonight so I am going to buy new batteries, thanks for the reminder Jill.

We have been lax about it, too, We have some that are hardwired, but the ones in the kitchen and our own bedroom are not so H and I first had to "argue" this morning about when they were last replaced before he agreed it probably was easier just to replace them (I wanted him to climb up and do it vs. me).

I think you're "supposed" to do it each time you change the clocks, however, I bet it's been way longer for us and it's the kind of thing that I normally only think about late at night when I'm trying to go to sleep.
