I know many people here have ridding horses, would you mind sharing some pictures of your big horses or ridding horses? Showing, out in the pasture, trail ridding ...just share!

My dad and i recently invested in a Tennessee Walking Horse 8yr old gelding about 3wks ago. I got to ride him today (i've been ridding my friends QH the past few months, taking a lesson or two here or their) and even though Miniatures and Shetlands are my first love, i dont think i'm going to mind having a big horse around agian. Was a bit timid about the idea bc dad is getting 'up their' in age and still thinks he is a cowboy ...but i'm feeling really good about this now. Will post pics of him sometime this week or next time we make it over to the arena. Dad is from KY so naturally he likes the gaited horses or saddle horses as he calls them, i have to admit ..i like him ...i like him ALLOT. So smoothe, so gentle. I've never gotten into ridding or big horses before and i wasnt expecting this, i am just blown away by how much fun i am having with him and had today ridding him. BTW, his name is Junior. Previous owner (my dads step brother) named him Rosco, that name had to go ..its way to rough for such a gentle soul.

Thank you.

Lets see them, pretty please lol!!!!!

Here is the love of my life!

This is Ferrah. She is a 24 year old dun Arab X QH cross. I got her for free because she was a neurotic terror. Just look at her now! We have competed in dressage, hunter, jumper, and gymkhana. But because of her age, we just do trails now.

(Ignore me in the pictures, I look like a fool)

This Ferrah & I at a 4-H competition, she was 22 years old then. Don't mind me, I am riding terribly..there is a story behind this, but that would take forver to tell!

Ferrah at 24 years.

She is the best horse ever. We take care of each other.

Here is the horse I am leasing. He is a 7 year old, 17 hand black Thoroughbred gelding off the track. He won $118,000 on the track. He was bought by an inexperienced owner who thought the idea of rescuing an off the track horse was "romantic". Needless to say she has been dumped and trashed many times by this very sensitive guy! I took over leasing him and I am considering taking the buy option on our contract after the lease is up.

Hero is very senstive, and a complete nut case. But in some bizarre way, we understand each other. I am only 5"2 so I look like a shrimp up on this guy!

This is my current QH, Jazz Star, or more affectionately called.....Bebop! He's 16hh. He is 17 yrs old this year but broke his pelvis last year. We're hoping for a complete healing but will be happy if we can get it healed and to the point he isn't in constant pain. He seems to be doing pretty good now.....he has decided that he can run and buck again

: . Vet says that's a good sign. I have some photos of me riding him but they aren't on the computer. I need to add them.

It has been a couple of years since I posted a picture so I hope this turns out like it should.

If it turns out right this is my grand-daughter Valerie and Freckles (a Appy X Arab) before a 4th of July parade. Val was in the Air Force and I was getting ready to mount up. We were in 4 parades that day and 10 parades that summer. 2004

This is my old riding buddy. She's a pet now, her name is Babe.

Great thread! I love riding, there's nothing else quite like it. At this time, I don't own a full size horse, but before too long, I plan on getting back in the saddle again! I really enjoy a gaited horse, they are so smooth to ride, and I love going on trail rides!

If you don't mind, I'd like to make this reply a tribute to 1) My Dad, who has gone on to be with the Lord, 4 years ago now, and who I miss soooo much. He is standing with his beloved Overo: Apache's Raindance And 2) To Casey (Caseys Midnight Girl) my blue papered Fox Trotter/ Tennessee Walker, the best horse I ever owned! Who I don't know where she is, except she moved to Minnesota somewhere about 12 years ago, and I do hope to one day find her, or know about how she is doing. My Dad sold Casey without my knowing until it was too late for me to act upon. She was suppose to remain with my parents to live out the rest of her life, but situations took place and to no blame to my parents. Casey, my girl, where ever you are, I miss you.

***If anyone can help me get the pictures posted without having to click on the link I would be so grateful. I tried all the ways I can think of with the image selector and I can't get it to post a direct picture. TY)

edited to add... I switched to photo bucket, and have it working out for me, YAY! :aktion033: ... now to figure out sizing.... later.

This is the only full sized horse I have left. I've had him 10 years and he'll never be sold. We have him leased out right now and he's doing a great job introducing new students to riding. He is a 1988 Saddlebred gelding and was by far the best show horse I've had. He won me over 100 blue ribbons, qualified for the Saddlebred Hunter & Western Worlds several times, the NEHC Stock Seat Medal Finals AND NEHC Saddleseat Medal Finals(only horse to ever qualify for both) and is truly a "once in a lifetime" find. He's a horse you could do Saddleseat, Huntseat, Western and drive all at the same show and he did it all well. He's the reason I no longer have full sized horses.....I can't find anything near as special as him to replace him as a show horse

Nice horses guys!! That picture of Woody is hilarious. It looks like he's on a pogo stick (sticks?)

This is my biggun J.W.S. Diabolo (Dee). For those of you who know appalooosa's he's a Plaudit horse. He's the one who started this whole "appy" thing for me. He's my forever horse.
