I just asked at the post office about from South US Nic.

its best to mail from the Post office. There is and extra charge for the stamps to Canada, it used to be .05 cents but who knows now. Packages are a real bargin if they are under four pounds. One flat rate, anywhere in Canada from anywhere in the U.S. The service is call Air Mail Letter Post. As I said under four pounds. Just more trivia from my muddled brain.

It really doesn't take that long - maybe 10 days. But the US postal service is much worse than Canada Post, CP is actually really fast, even at Christmas.

One thing that can help expedite a package is on the customs declaration, put that the package is a gift with a value of $0. Then no one has to pay customs fees.

I sent my SS gift out 2 weeks ago this Tuesday, from Wisconsin to Canada. I sent it air mail, she hasnt received it yet (or at least she hasnt posted yet, and I AM WATCHING!!) I was told at the post office she would have it in less then 1 week, but others have said 2-3 weeks. They also told me shipping was $16.70 to her, and if for some reason it was undeliverable and I wanted it returned (which I did) I had to pay a extra $16.70. I went with the air mail, it was a little higher priced but it included being returned. I was also reminded that I NEED to put the phone # on the customs receipt to who it was going to. which I didnt have, and they did leave it go thru without it. Was anyone else told this?? Corinne

I sent two packages to Canada.  The first will get there in 10 days...was under 3 lbs.  The other will take 4-6 weeks.  It made no sense to me...the second package had to go to NYC and wait in a warehouse until more packages came then would get put on a ship to go to the middle of Canada...absolutely no sense but the only way to get there.  It also cost as much to ship as to buy the item....not complaining, just the way life goes.  I had to fill out a custom form on both.  Didn't know you could put $0...oh well, hopefully, it is the thought that counts.  And I have to pay shipping back if it is undeliverable.

I didnt know you could put 0 dollars either

I sure hope mine gets there otherwise it will be 40+ bucks for a gift no one got.. boy that would SUCK but i know it hasnt gotten there yet sigh...

I sent mine right before Thanksgiving, I asked about putting gift on the customs form, but they told me it is better to put what is inside, because with gift, they may decide to check it.

And I didn't know you could put a $0 value either,

I also put to have it returned to me if it doesn't go through, but it would cost me again to get it back..................Sure hope it makes it safe & sound.
