This simple/cheap feeder idea can be used where studs are exposed, be it run-in/shed/barn. It is "pagewire" fencing fastened across the face of the studs. I like to use slats and ensure the wire ends are covered to avoid pokes. This way the fine "yummy" leafage falls to the base , rather then being dragged across floor and often ruined. Some of my previous "feeder" innovations did not withstand the "RUB" test, as any protruding "something" at thigh height is prime rubbing material. This does.

As herd grows, build anothere run-in. Did this a few weeks ago and is very simple and quick to put up. Some of mine have "railway" tie bases, since I can't set 4 precisely located posts due to rocks. Usually use material on hand at time of need. Hence, "Helter Skelter Shelter" place would be appropriate. Have 10 different shelter designs.

Another "sharing" pic I missed on last post. These are 14 mares, aged 2 to 16, and hopefully includes about 10 '06 moms.

What a neat idea. We use cattle/hog panel sections (wider holes that don't flex), as mine will put their feet in anything AND get it stuck

Your mares share so nicely

Mine are such itch-bays that they will have ONE horse on ONE side of a 12' feeder and the other few bossy ones on the other side. Anyone else iust out of luck...of course I feed them seperately

"HAY", what a great idea. We have run in sheds similar to you and was thinking of doing something to get the hay off the ground as it was getting trampled in. I know now what to do. Thanks for sharing.

Whitney - They are a very simple design. The two ends made on the ground. 4 cross pieces (for roof) put in. 2 studs along back. Screw on sheeting. Size is 6'x9' with roof 9'x9'. Size was dictated by material on hand .

Great idea!
