This week has been so funny. On Sunday I decided my boys needed their feeties done, so I took my tools out to their field and caught Stormy first. Tied him to the wall of the barn and did his feet while Sunny stood behind him kinda watching. After Stormy was done, I literally crawled on my hands and knees over to Sunny with the tools and proceeded to do his feet- withOUT being tied or even a halter on! Of course, while I was doing his hind feet, Dunny came over to see what was up. I asked him if he thought I was doing it right.

Sunny NEVER even moved, even when I got up to do his other side. When I was done I let Stormy loose and they were like, "OK, where's the cookies?" They got their cookies that night...

THEN, on Tuesday when I was shutting the yearling mares in their barn, I looked over into the weanling field. Spicey is HOLDING the kitty- by her HEAD!

Literally, the kitty's ear and side of her face were in Spicey's mouth- and she wasn't struggling! (This is a new kitty someone dumped on our farm about a week or so ago...

) I'm hollering at Spicey: "SPICEY! Let her go! LET the kitty GO!!!! SPICEY!!!!" I was afraid to go over there as Spicey can be a bit spooky at times and I DIDN'T want her to clamp down or toss poor Simba kitty.... when I went to the gate to let them in kitty had been released. So, when I go out of the barn to feed the back, there's poor Simba kitty- with a wet head. I scolded her and told her that is a quick way to use up her lives....

Poor kitty, glad shes ok

I love how sunny jsut stood there, I have one gelding I could probably do that with as well, never tried though...

I never tie any of my minis. I just let them eat their hay and they are happy while I do their feet. Now with the babies it is a new exciting deal and I have to have someone hold them the first few times until they realize I'm not cutting their legs off or anything.

I had a mare that would not let you touch her foal's feet without doing something to her own first. She would throw a hissy if you went for the foal first - but all you had to do was pick up each foot and clean it out and tap on it a couple of times and then she was a happy camper and would let you do whatever you wanted to with her baby.

She was the same about clipping - she loved to be "glammed up" - just her head & bridle path and wouldn't let you do ANY other horse in the barn without doing her first - she would just have a little hissy fit unless you brought her out first.

They are so funny . . .
