Well, I finally made it to Congress… I guess I should have been more specific when wishing to go to Congress like, “I want to go to Congress with no broken bones.” But I made it anyway and had a pretty good excuse to watch almost every class from the sidelines.
:
After my doctor’s appointment Monday morning telling me travel was not a good idea, Mike, myself, and Fiddlestix Princess Dye headed out for Gordyville. This was our first trip to Gordyville, and it was nicer than I was expecting. I did like the atmosphere created by having lots of stalls around the arena, but showing horses in August without Air Conditioning is a downright test of endurance! I was hot just sitting in my chair, but I really felt for the exhibitors showing in class after class after class. (If I didn’t know better, I would have thought I was still in Texas!)
Our girls held their own:
Wall Street The Admiral Lambee Pie
Congress Reserve Champion Classic Aged Mare 3 & 4 Years, Under
Congress Top Ten Classic Mare Owned and Shown by Amateur
Fiddlestix Princess Dye
Congress Reserve Champion Multi-Color Classic Mare
Congress Top Ten (3rd) Yearling Classic Mare, Over
Congress Top Ten Futurity Yearling Classic Mare
But Frank was our star of the show claiming three National Championship Titles!
Martins Best Dressed Sinatra
Congress Reserve GRAND Champion Classic Stallion, Under
Congress Senior Champion Classic Stallion, Under
Congress Champion Aged Classic Stallion 3 & 4 Years, Under
Congress Champion Classic Stallion Owned and Shown by Amateur
Congress Top Ten (3rd) Classic Liberty
Frank was Mike’s first horse to pick out of a pasture all on his own. I think almost everyone has asked him why he picked a white horse, but he has never wavered in believing in this horse. I am so happy I was there to see Mike win his first National Championship with Frank in the Amateur Halter Class. (There was more than one set of teary eyes on the sidelines.)
A huge thank you to Belinda for making Frank look so awesome this year!
: Once again you’ve helped make our dreams come true.
I'm already making plans for next year which include attending Congress in good health, so I can actually make it into the arena!
