She didn't really act any different, but was watching her on the monitor. I was out there at 11:00 & came in went to bed (was going to the Hoosier Horse Fair today) Got up about 1:30 & saw the baby on the monitor, still the sack. Ran out there & of course she was already gone. She was a little Red & White filly, the one I had been waiting on. The sack was so tough that I had a hard time pulling it apart. The placenta came out with the baby, so there was no chance for it to get out. I feel guilty about not watching closer. I should have laid down on the couch, so I could watch on the monitor. My other mare that is due either the last of April or May now looks skinny, but no baby around in the pasture. She even has milk, so I don't think I am having any babies this year, I have never lost one in the sack like that.

I sold 2 of my horses that weren't registered that should have been pregnant. I am having back problems, so I sold 5 of my horses thinking that these babies would replace them. Sorry this is so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OooooH! I'm so very sorry for your loss! My little filly was born yesterday and if I hadn't invested in the webcam so I could view her at work, I think that she would have been destined for the same fate. The foal alert system with webcam and monitoring system were well worth the investment. I hope Strawberry will be okay. Give her lots of love and attention and prayers are with you for the next delivery. Think about investing in the foal alert for night time. Take Care, Karen

I am so sorry for your loss. Please don't be too hard on yourself. We have lost several this year too and always think, "What if..." I hope your next one is okay.

So Sorry, I have watch and watch and watch, we do need some rest. Don't blame yourself, easier

sad than done. It is when you get so tired, they foal, we are only human. Yes, I do think Minis have more

trouble getting out of the sac, they don't seem to struggle like bigger horses. I have had trouble myself opening their sac.

Take care of yourself, Thinking of you and your mare.

I'm so sorry for you and your little mare. It's such a terrible way to lose a foal. I know alot of us here know the heartache and the guilty feelings. Hugs to you.

I am also sorry that you lost the foal. It is heartbreaking. Bless you!

So sorry for your loss it does happen and sure wasn't your fault. l watched my mare endlessly day and night and this morning while l was in the can getting dressed and waiting on the BP to puff up she had it couldn't have been more then 15 min at the most from the last time l looked at the monitor. Again sorry.

I am sorry you lost the foal. But don't beat yourself up over it. They know when we're watching and I swear they wait till we're not. I think it might be a good idea to invest in a foal monitor next year. It has saved many of my foals.

I am so sorry.

But as others have said, it has happened to me too. I know how awful you feel.

I'm sorry. We unexpectedly lost one this year too. It sounds as if your mare will be okay, though.
