The drama queen finally foaled!!!

Its a boy!!!! Wow it was a scarey delivery. my very first red bag. Got the bag off and his tongue was sticking out and blue. My heart was pounding. Then the head stuck but we finally got him out and gave him mouth to mouth and thank god he opened his eyes and started squirming!! Im pretty sure hes bay but russ says hes sorrell. And pinto with a huge white blaze like his daddy rocket. This is only the 3rd boy we have had in all these years so im pretty excited. He hasnt nursed yet but i thought id give them some time alone as diamond is a very nervous mare. Im watching them on camera. I will get some pics when i got back out as hes almost dry. oh and hes descended which always makes me happy with colts lol

thanks to everyone for their well wishes and good thoughts. I was so nervous about this foal!

Hi ginia. well this foal wasnt stuck nearly as bad as last years so thats a good thing. She sure is a good momma once she gets them out.

He is now bucking and kicking mom

My neighbor came over and just couldnt get over how small he is. Hes used to foaling out standabreds so he keeps saying hes no bigger then a bar of soap :lol:

oh and russ is right hes sorrell. it was so dark i thought he had black in his tail but definately red.

Congrats!!!! Aww he is really cute. Good job on getting him here. Do keep a close eye on him some of these red bag foals seem to have sleep apnea and can tend to quit breathing. But sounds like your boy is spunky and normal. :aktion033:

ive been watching real close. jim was shocked that he was doing so well as he said they always have trouble with red bag foals not nursing etc. hes full of spunk! im too reved up to sleep now

oh and yes hes nursing great now! ill get better pics tomarrow but i couldnt wait. i swear she was still trying NOT to have him. she was sweaty at 600 pm and still wouldnt foal until 945

oh and we have to pick a name! i had all girl names picked out (see pink tail wrap?)

Huge congratulations. Now you can finally let the relief settle in. As for the red bags, the one we had here once we got the bag broke and pulled her half-way out she was already trying to twist around and suck while the rest of her was still inside. I think if you get them out fast enough they're just as strong as the normal deliveries. Thank God you were there.
