The wrong question to ask me

Do you know, I don't think we have a woman mechanic in all of this town. I haven't come across one yet nor have I heard of one. I was just saying yesterday that if a few of these places did have women mechanics we could probably get a lot better job done when we take a vehicle in for repair. At this point in time I wouldn't mind having a female phone repair person either--the men they send out sure can't get our line fixed...

Doctors, we do have a few women--I've only ever been to one, and I didn't like her. Salespeople, yes, I'd have to agree on that one. Overall I believe the women are nicer to deal with.

I've walked out of a dealership here twice - and bought a new Suburban elsewhere - because they ignored me out on the lot. I'd been there 2-3 times, walking the lot and looking, without so much as a hello. Went back one evening with my husband and guess what, they were falling all over themselves trying to "help". I let them know later why I had bought elsewhere.

My mother was buying a new car several years ago (she was in her 80's), and the salesman made the mistake of asking her "if there was someone she needed to ask before she wrote the check"....I think she read him the riot act LOL.

Two different times I went to buy a vehicle by myself and I saw the SOB for what he was the moment the salesman openned his mouth. The trucks were going to be MINE and the money was MINE........and I took the fool for a "ride".

I bargained the guy down and down. He thought I was going to finance (with my husband's income as backup.) And once the deal was set, I paid CASH. You should have seen the look on the sucker's face! What's hysterical is that I did it all over again to him a couple of years later!!!! They guy didn't learn.

It would not have happened around here because a lot of women chew baccer and would have spit in his eye..........

I can change my own tires and oil too by the way if I have to. Not my favorite thing but if everyone else is busy, I am certainly capable of doing repairs like that myself. I'm totally not too good at tune ups though although I don't mind it. Nobody wants me to help out doing that.

On second thought, it's been a good 2 years or so since I worked on a vehicle. Don't think my fat rear could handle it anymore unless I had to. I'd need a wrecker to haul me up to my feet!

Doesn't happen much in my neck of the woods either. The gal that helps me with the horses has a sticker in her truck- Bear Hunter. SHE is the bear hunter, not her boyfriend! All 120 lbs of her. I hate it when people come and ask my hubby about the horses-although he is quick to tell them he is just the stable hand...(he really isn't but it sets them straight pretty fast). I do most of my repairs around here. One reason I love my vet. He knows to deal with me even though my husband is standing there too. :aktion033:

I was talking to a neighbor this evening & he said that when his wife was car shopping awhile back, one salesman at one dealership asked her "does your husband know you're looking at cars?" She walked out & didn't go back to that dealership.

This kind of stuff INFURIATES me! When Mom and I were house shopping YEARS ago, salesmen stuck in the 50's would suggest we bring our husbands by to talk to them @@.

: A good friend of mine has a great tactic...........she has done this several times. She shops around to get an idea of the average price for what she wants and then goes shopping....tells the salesman exactly what she wants and how much she is willing to spend :bgrin :bgrin of course they want to make the sale so they convince her to go in and sit down while they run the numbers (rarely landing on her number) when they can't meet her number she stands up says thanks for your time and walks out the door

: she has purchased 2 vehicles for her exact price no extra for taxes, this or that...........watching the salesmen turn inside out as she walks out the door is priceless :bgrin
