I don't usually go on the Back Porch so if this thread has been posted sorry to repeat it! Seeing the thread about the once in a lifetime things you've done made me think about things I haven't done.

Name one thing you'd like to do before your time has passed. I know just one thing is hard because there are a million things I'd like to do yet but my one thing is just a simple thing that most people have done.

Someday I WILL go to the ocean--look for shells, go swimming, make sand castles, and just swish the sand between my toes

Ok, I would like to return to Greece for a long visit, and go back to Turkey as well. My ex boyfriend and his wife are Turkish, and believe it or not I have a standing invitation to stay with them! I just don't dare tell them how much I loved Greece.

I would love to have the finances ( as I did in my twenties and thirties ) to just take off and go anywhere. A trip down to Milwaukee, our out to Texas or Mexico. ( To see relatives. ) Or to go any where really. And this dream would also include a nicer dependable car for me, since my husband would not be going along and would need " his " car. What I had wished I had done after college and before getting into the world of job and marriage, was to take a photo safari of Africa--Kenya and South Africa (now that apartheid had ended). I spent weeks studying all of the plains antelopes so that I could quickly distinguish a Thompson's gazelle from an impala.

Unfortunately, there is now the issue of money, time and the political unstability of the area, as well as the great prevelance of HIV (what if I needed to go to a hospital?).

But, maybe, someday....

My wants and my lifetime desires are two different things. I daily have wants but if I truely have a lifetime desire then I fullfill it. I can honestly say I have done everything I really wanted to do so far in my life.

Oh yeah, I am a big believer in instant gratification.

I've always wanted to tour England, Scotland and Ireland. A friend went on my dream vacation -- on horseback, dressed in period garb, from castle to castle, where they dined in the big halls, threw food to dogs under the tables & slept in the bedchambers. Then, back up in the morning, thru the woods & trails, on to the next castle. She was gone for almost a month. I would love, love to do that!
