This is ROKO Painted Apache Sahara Rain aka Sophie. She is a maiden and due April 7th. I bought her last year from my friend Robin Olmstead at ROKO Minis. And before I brought Sophie home Robin bred her to her wonderful boy Lotto. I am VERY excited to see this foal and nervous at the same time.

Here are Sophie's pictures that I took yesterday evening after I gave her a "maternity haircut". LOL She is 308 days in them.

Pretty mare!!! Man she isn't very big at all, in comparison to some that I have seen. Good Luck! Wishing for a very healthy foal along with the mare. Can't wait to see the foal once it gets here.

She is beautiful!..

Let you know I posted Rosie on the Photo/Gallery Forums..

It is neat that she and her dam are bred to the same boy and due so close together! Sassy is at day 304 and usually goes 308-311 days.

Is Sophie only 31" or so? That must be one small baby!

Give her a hug for me please!

Yup she is right at 31". TINY baby in there! I have begun to take lots of pics of her because I want to document her changes really well.

For comparison here are some pics of her at 292 days.

Thanks for posting. She looks a lot like my mare but is further along. Mine is due beginning of May and we are very excited. Our first also.

beautiful girl - best wishes for a safe and happy foaling with her. She doesn't look that big (for 308 days) but then maiden mares don't usually show as large as early as the broodmares do. We've got a few maidens that we sometimes scratch our heads over but they are confirmed in foal. LOL

Best of luck - be sure to share pictures!

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words!

There have been many times that I have looked at her and wondered if she was really pregnant. But she was confirmed by ultrasound around day 200 and recently I have been able to feel and see the foal moving.

So I know there is something in there. LOL!

She is at day 311 today. Like Robin said above, her dam has always foaled between 308-311. So I guess Sophie is going to go longer than her mother. This morning she is still almost identical to the pics on Wednesday.

Cute mare! By this time you should feel movement if she is in foal. One of my favorite things about pregnant mares. You can usually feel/see movements near the flanks.

Quick update on little Miss Sophie!

Over the weekend she gradually has slowed way down on eating her grain. She usually gets it eaten before the next feeding time. But this is VERY unusal for Sophe. Also she has been laying down alot. Especially this morning. One time she was down for almost 2 hours. This is also very unusual for her because in the past I could never catch her laying down.

She has been yawning and smacking up a storm.

Her vulva is puffy and elongated.

It looks like we are getting closer!!!

Here is her cam if anyone wants to watch her!

Bumping to the top of page. I am at home watching Sophie now. She has been pacing, pawing, yawning, and rolling this morning. I don't expect it to be much longer.
