I plan on showing my mini stud (blue roan tobi

!) driving in pinto breed shows and in local driving shows this summer. I am new to driving, and my question is, what do I wear? I am about 20 and female, if that helps. "Cloudy" has a black harness and a black cart.

Thanks!

I show mostly in Pinto shows and at our shows you see a variety. Many show in the same clothes they wear for other classes, so either rail shirts or a jacket with black pants. Some include aprons or lap robes, especially if they are driving wooden wheel carriages. But the MOST IMPORTANT thing is to read the rule book, and for pinto that means you need to display your number on BOTH SIDES of your cart.

Some like to wear fancy hats, but I wear my helmet which is always appropriate.

With the black cart, black harness and black toned horse I would go with a fairly bright eye catching colour such as the jewel toned blue already suggested or a cheerful yellow or whatever is your favourite colour to wear that makes you feel great. Pretty much any colour will work with your horse but I would stick to a bright colour. A nice blazer or short jacket is appropriate along with a tailored pant and flat soled or low heeled sturdy shoe or boot. Hat and gloves are always good but not mandatory. The gloves should be brown to match your reins if you choose to wear them.

The "brown" gloves are more important in ADS or something like that. In breed shows and open local shows, most don't wear gloves and wouldn't know what you're talking about if you said "your gloves had to match your reins". Some will even have all black reins. So local and pinto -- more relaxed type dress code. Breed shows (AMHR.AMHA) you might want to dress according to the class you're in such as Western Pleasure - western clothes; Country Pleasure - nice slacks or skirt with blouse or shirt (hat optional); Pleasure driving - a bit more fancy dress.

I think a jewel-tone blue, or black would look nice.

Good luck showing your stallion!
I agree a nice bright jewel tone blue would look fabulous with a blue roan! We're a long way from even thinking about showing but, lol, I'm already debating a bright blue or purple for my black pony :D
