Well, I had been thinking of possibilities for quite a while, and I think I finally came across an idea that works for me. I plan to give them all either a candy bar, or gum or something, but then I will give them a letter that I write to them personally. It will include how much they mean to me and all the mushy stuff like that.

What do you think of my idea? Any suggestions to make it better?

It would be especially good if you knew it was their personal favorate type of candy! Be sneaky to find out.

I think it's a cool idea!! Those are the kind of gifts I enjoy!! Nothing fancy, but from the heart and personally special. Good for you...I'll bet you'll enjoy Christmas so much more than having a mad dash at the malls filled with crowds.

Maybe you can draw some coupons. Like, "this coupon entitles the bearer to____"

And put things that YOU would do for them, helping with chores like doing dishes, doing a load of laundry, helping them cleanin their room, anything that they would enjoy and it's something you can give that doesn't cost money.

I read this idea in Dear Abby!

Candy, a nice letter and a coupon.

Jaime,

You are such an inspiration! What a wonderful, simple idea.

I know a family who requested that there be no gifts for their children at Christmas. They wanted family members to donate money to charity and then write a personal note to the children about where the money went etc. The grandparents give them the letter at Thanksgiving so they can still spoil them a little at Christmas.

Thank you Jaime, for not bein one of the spend spend spend kids who buys their friends. Friendship and honesty is the best gift of all you can give.

That's a great idea, I'm sure they'll love it. I have given alot of coupons to my friends for Christmas presents. "Good for three loads of laundry" "Good for three stall cleanings" etc etc. People really like that kind of thing and I don't go broke

Great idea!

I use to do something similar.

I bought the candy bar, 100,000 Grand Bar,

and started whatever I wrote with, that is how much they were worth to me.

Very kind of you.

That is so incredibly sweet! I think I will try and do that this year. Every year my family donates a lot of presents and food to the local homeless shelters, and perhaps I can donate money to CMHR this year! Once I found a $50 bill at school, and I gave it to Love Can't Wait Pony Rescue. My mom was actually quite mad - told me I should spend it on myself... I was like WHY? These horses need it more - plus this is when Peanut was still there.
