We are trying to find him the correct balance is the current problem. He's on a high protein mare/foal feed right now but I think I'm going to switch him to a Performance Horse feed. It's higher protein than the one he is on. I like to keep them on grass hay and I'm thinking this is why I'm needing to go to a higher protein feed. Alfalfa has much more protein but I have a couple of horses that stock up on the alfalfa hay so it's easier to keep them all on grass. We'll get it figured out. We just weaned him a month ago so it'll be trial and error until we figure out what works best for him.Hay belly is lack of protein.
