I have been working 14 hour days and cannot seem to stay asleep! I work 8+ hours on my day job and another 6 cleaning a 14 stall barn, feeding and watering--that doesn't include the minis, and I just can't seem to stay asleep for more than 4-5 hours. Not like Im NOT tired when I go to bed. Is this just part of menopause? If so, give me the sweats anytime, I want to get some sleep! :517:

OH GOD SHIRLEY I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ,{YAWN} LOL AND THE MORE YOU WORRY ABOUT IT THE MORE YOU CANT SLEEP, I WAS AN INSOMNIAC FOR YEARS,NOW FOR SOME REASON,IM OKAY AGAIN, MAYBE YOUVE SOMETHING ON YOUR MIND?? OR YOUR THINKING TOO MUCH

: A NICE MILKY DRINKY AND A WARM BATH MIGHT DO THE TRICK ,GOOD LUCK !!! :bgrin

I say don't worry about it.

A wise older physician told me once that most healthy adults don't NEED any more than 5 hours of sleep. Anything over that is gravy. We have conditioned ourselves to receiving 8 or more hours of sleep and the body just doesn't need that much.

Babies, on the other hand, DO require extended hours of sleep.

Sleep is designed to "reset" the brain afresh, and an adult can do fine with 5 or 6 hours each night.

Could it be the sugarplum fairy dancing around in your head with thoughts of your new farm and all the goodies that go with your new exciting life? :bgrin

While I am sure I am not going through menopause five or six hours sleep is a good night for me. Everyonce in awhile I manage to crash and sleep seven or eight hours but thats not the norm. Then in my position the ultimate luxury is an afternoon nap if I feel the need.

I dont think its anything to worry about for years I have done 5 hours or 3 here and 2 later or whatever. I sleep when Im sleepy and since staying home have never set an alarm clock I just sleep when I need to and rarely more than 6 hours at a time. I do take a nap when it is possible and I feel the need but that is for an hour or less usually. If you feel you are too tired you might talk to your Dr. about it but I do think as we age we dont require the sleep we did when we were younger.

Boy you're all killing me! I'm only 20 but my nightly hours of sleep consist of 5-6 hours because I just can't sleep! After 8 hours of work, coming home and doing chores, cooking, I still have to sit up and watch tv until around 11-12pm because I am too restless to fall asleep any earlier...I can crawl into bed at 9 but I wont fall alseep until 11. I wish I could get more sleep, i'm always tired! Lately i've been addicted to these Monster drinks...the low carb one because it's not as gooey as the original!
