I know that some members here were born into a family of life-long readers. Others have found that joy on their own. So do you guys remember that special book that made you realize your love of reading?

LIttle House on the Prairie books. I have all of my original books; I think they are first illustrated editions. Many include the artwork of my younger sister... I can remember that wonderful smell of a new book and the excitment of opening it for the first time.

My 9th grade English teacher said for her it was The Secret Garden. I had never read that book until she mentioned it in class.

When I was young, The Black Stallion and any westerns were a must read. Zane Grey was my favorite.

I cut my teeth on Sesame Street books before I was even in school, but the first books I remember really falling in love with were Christopher Pike's Spooksville series and Alfred Hitchcock's Three Investigators series. I guess I have been a series gal all my life!

I was a late bloomer...didn't really get into reading until about five years ago. I've always enjoyed reading, but growing up I liked listening to music even better. When I was 27, I had to go out on sick-leave for six months and laying around the house got really boring. I started reading all of my books, and that's what started my book obsession. Entering the different worlds in books got me out of the one I was physically suffering in. The first book I really read as an adult was Iris Johansen's Long After Midnight. That started me on collecting all of her books. From there it went to Harry Potter, Twilight, and now everything. Lol.
