I went today. Looking for the new Dick Francis book, and if the "Bug Man" had written another. Nix on both searches, but I found some nice books on the sale table--two great gardening books.

I have so many books and get so many publications in the mail that I don't go to the library that often.

I went to the library last Wednesday, and bought four books from their sales room. I don't go there often, maybe just once every few months or so, and it's only to see what they have for sale. I used to go there to use their computers before we got internet access, but I can't remember the last time I actually checked out a book. I'm one of those people who has to own the books I read.

I used to go every two weeks, but I just bought several including our book of the month choice so I'm set for awhile. When I go back, I'm looking for the new Dick Francis one. My night time reading has been cut back a little because I finally got the second season of Walking Dead and watch an episode or two besides my usual programs. I'm thinking of trying the comic book just to check one out.

SInce I moved last summer I have not gone at all, mainly because of sick pets, and then I was sick, and then the car woes ( are we a sickly lot here or what!?). Hoping that when things settle down I can get my butt over to the library, I love our library here! A few years ago I worked at a small public library for a short time, loved it. Anyway, hoping I can get to the library within the week, want to check out some books, including the January book of the month so I can get to reading it.

I worked in my school library for a semester way back when. I loved it because it was an easy grade. I didn't really have a love for books at that time, except for horse books with lots of pictures. Lol. But I would LOVE to work in a library or used book store now.

I was there in December, and was going every 2-4 weeks through most of last year. I always take a break in the winter to read all the books I've collected from friends/bought myself. I usually get a good stack going, but have to read my library books first because they are "due." If it's a friend I know would want the book back fast, I do make it a priority to read it right away and not put it on the stack. Our libary will let you request books from libraries in the same county, so I often will request the max number and then can just go to the desk and pick them up. But often end up wandering the shelves anyway! I'm very grateful for the library and their annual book sales, I couldn't afford my reading habit without them!

Oh yes, I do love it that the library can get books from other libraries. Ours is part of a state-wide system, so can pretty much get whatever I request. There is a $1 fee now to make those requests.

You can check out movies, also.

And the used book section is facinating. I visit other libraries just to shop. There is a library in a town near me that lets me go down, down into the storage vault. Boxes and stacks of books there, with a dim overhead bulb. Take a sweater and flashlight. Books are a quarter each.

This sounds like a dream come true to me....and the possible scene of a very scary movie. ;)

That is a dream come true! Wish I could join in. My library has a very small section that I can shop in. In the spring they have a indoor/outdoor book sale that I love to browse through.

I'm with Jill and I haven't been in decades either. So much has changed with the advent of the internet. Also, it's quite the trip in very rural areas to get to a decent library. I use booksfree.com for my books. I pay a monthly fee and can check out 7 books at a time (they have different plans). Oh, and I've just started using the Kindle lending library which is awesome!!

Went on Friday, they didn't have the new Dick Francis and ended up taking out five then finding out that I had already read 3 of them. Need to expand my genres.

I haven't check out a book from a library probably since I was in college, but I do go to the local library, mostly to donate magazines and the occasional book that really doesn't fit my library after I've read it. [if I don't like it, it doesn't stay.]

Today. My son loves the library. They have this cool wall with holes in it (I call it swiss cheese wall) and the kids can climb up in the holes to read their books. He loves it! Not to mention the little potty that is just his size. What's more fun than reading a book in a cubby and peeing in a tiny potty?
