I mean, where do you find the best deals for things like show sheen, blade wash, various other items that you need to bring with you to a show and/or to prepare for a show???

I am trying to get a list together, I have a list of everything I need for a show but now where is the best place to go to buy it all???

thanks!!

Chimacum Tack Shack has a lot of great deals. I am lucky, though, I get to shop in person at the showss o no shipping. Pedigreed Tack is also wonderful and has great prices.

Don't use blade wash (was told not to by someone that repairs and sells clippers), so I can't tell you if that's a good deal anywhere, but our local feed store has it and it's a decent price.

As far as blankets and things, Supreme Equine Design makes my favorite hoods and blankets.

Jeffers for your showing items.

Any good specific brands for items that you would recommend??

I forgot i'm purchasing a clipper that doesn't need removable blades lol I just need a blade cooler or lube...any good brand for that??

Thanks you two!

Try WalMart for lots of stuff. They have an oil sheen hair spray that is about $3-4 a can (in tall blue can with silver trim), works great for finishing spray/shine. (In Ethnic section) Other stuff too, gels, baby oil gel, razors, shaving cream, blade wash?, handy wipes and so forth.

Cannot remember if I got the blade wash there but Sallys Beauty Supply has it too and usually cheaper than you can get anywhere else. Blades probably Jeffers has the best price.

Can't think why not...did they explain? Perhaps they ment spray on lubricant?

I don't use "cool lube", or any of those spray on lubricants because they will clog-up the blades. But as for blade wash...I get five times the clipping using it, than other folks I know who don't. I've been using many of the same blades for over 20 years...so I can't see the harm it's done.

Mineral oil...if there was only one thing I was allowed in my tack box...that would be it.

It was probably the cool lube stuff you heard "not to use". I have heard this too.

Country Supply is a good place to buy some of the things. Our local feed store carries some of it, and by the time you add shipping it is cheaper to buy it from them than it is to have it shipped at the cheaper price.

Thanks everyone!!!

The clipper set i'm getting is really cool, it has a dial on the back so you can adjust the permenant blade on it to #9 - #40 so you don't have to mess with changing blades, just click and go!

I just know i'm going to have to shop for everything in one big lump and it's going to be expensive! lol!

What it was was the "dipping" of the blades into the blade wash. He said more often than not the stuff gets inside (people either dip too far or they accidently splash some up too high on the clippers) and what he recommended was pressurized air to clear the hair and dirt out and then to lubricate them very well before setting back to work and this has worked great for me so far.

Anyway, back to show goodies. I do try to buy all that I can at my local variety stores. I find the "hoof polish enhancer" just like sold at tack stores for $10-$15 a can, at an average variety store for about $1 per can or sometimes $1.99. It is the same size can, it's called Nail Polish Enhancer. :D

I also use the inexpensive "human" hair whitener-brightener that is about $1.99 a bottle for the whitening of manes and tails.

There isn't too much that you can't find there, but what I find indispensible for my showing that is only available at "horse" stores is Mac Wipes (Chimacum), hoof black (Ultra) and of course any Miniature Horse tack items like blankets and halters and the like.

Almost everything else can be found at regular ol' stores.
