Pros:

HORSE COUNTRY!

Lots of AMHA and AMHR/ASPC shows within reasonable driving distance

2 (3 maybe?) miniature horse clubs with very friendly people

4 nice seasons - winter is somewhat cold, sometimes snowy, sometimes icy but not horribly long.

Nice grassy pastures

reasonable cost of hay/feed (nice alfalfa/orchard grass hay $3.00 bale)

Several nice agricultural stores in the area

LOTS of EXPERIENCED and EXCELLENT Equine vets

NO FIRE ANTS (yet)

Lots of farriers and equine dentists

Breyerfest!!

Cons:

City, County, State and Federal income taxes - high taxation rate

farmland is NOT CHEAP

Summers can be HOT and HUMID

Tornados (rare) - Thunderstorms (frequent when not a drought year)

Poisonous snakes, spiders etc.. but you have them many places

some snow-- lots of rain in the winter.. so might want a barn with room where you can work horses indoors in the winter.

Basically we love it here. We were fortunate to find 5 nice, almost flat acres and were able to put up the barn we wanted and the fencing we needed.

Ok I have to play!

I love where we live.

Its in southern colorado. Pueblo.

Pros: Weather, my horses get worked all year long. Snow??? Not much and it melts the next day.

No humidity.

Property is average I would say. Depends on where you live in Pueblo and if you go a little further east, gets really cheap.

Taxes average I would guess.

In state there are 2 R shows, and about 6 A shows. One day drive to either Nationals or World show.

Not many bugs we hang outside all summer long.

Cons: Seems like you always have to drive through denver to get to a horse show ugghhh! If you dont live out in the county and live west its desert (but cheaper)

No snow days for the kids

100 degrees somedays in the summer

I think the job market probably sucks here, dont pay much attention to it as I have had the same job, but I dont think its the best.
