My granddaughter Makayla is in Florida and going to visit Winter today in Clearwater Florida. Wish I was with her and my daughter.

I do as well. The movie Dolphin Tale is based on Winter. My girlfriend Val who is battling cancer had to have part of her leg amputated. When Val came over to my house, just after the movie was released on DVD and we had bought it, I was not sure if Val should watch it but she did. It was very inspirational for her and gave her the fight she needed to go on and battle her loss of leg and fight with her cancer. Val also went to Florida, back in February, and went to visit Winter. She told me cried when she met her, but she told me if she can do it so can I.

We (old foggies, our kids, & grandkids) went to see Winter this past winter. She swims without the prosthesis most of the time as it can chafe her. She has to wear a lot of padding with with. They exercise her without it to try to strengthen and stretch the muscles. She swims just a little "off" without it (crooked, like over to one side). Which is why they do exercises with her to stretch and work her muscles independent of the "tail".

Very interesting place to visit if you ever get a chance. She's at Clearwater Aquarium.
