I moved onto a property with a huge pile of wood chips. I want to use them somehow instead of paying for removal. What are your thoughts on using the chips on the drive which is sandy dirt and makes a mess when wet. Plus I want area defined. I need a useable facility which looks nice but since I just pay rent I dont put money into it other than free or found materials I reuse.

I do not want to starts this job by hand my myself if its not at all worth it.

Nope... I think even my pony car would eat those as lunch! But if you have horses on your property over fall / winter, those wood chips might go good in high traffic, muddy areas!

Around here people use wood chips in the flower beds as a top dress. I can't see them as a driveway though. Maybe like Jill suggests.

This is my first year here so I am not sure of weather patterns of the area. This is Texas, were still in a drought. So I am not sure what wetness will bring.

I think I am going to post a new topic on this property project of mine. I would love help from anyone and advice from the experienced. The best thing here is a 100 year old barn. I want to buy this property so very much. I want it to be awesome.

Thanks again Jill

Same here. But I dont have enough ground to cover, must is all done. But that still leaves a big pile of chips in my pasture...

Any other ideas?

Not in the driveway! Planter beds is my only suggestion at the moment and that's if they aren't harboring bugs

I wouldn't use them in my driveway,as that might catch fire if they get caught up near a hot muffler. Last year I put some chips in one of my round pens.

My mother lives in Florida and made the mistake of putting down tree cuttings/chips on her driveway, its a nasty disgusting muddy mess when it rains. Don't do it. I wish I had pictures of it, its a nasty gross mess, looks good at first but when it breaks down a bit its not a good thing.
