Which stud would go best with my mare?

i honestly dont get why you are all so against me breeding my mare. i am aware of the risks involved and of the hard work it will take to care for mare and foal and i am ready for that. everyone has to start out somewhere.

also, the whole reason for this poll was to get some advice from experianced breeders which stallion would best go with my mare. i hand picked these stallions because of their bloodlines and how well their babies have done in the show ring. i was only asking because i havent been in miniatures as long as some of the breeders out there and i thought maybe they would see something in one stud that i didnt see, i just asking for some advice but apparently in doing that it makes me look bad. not everyone has a special mentor that they can run to for everything, i have had to learn everything first hand when it was thrown my way with no help from a mentor, this includes everything from choosing the right food for my girls to halter breaking and show/driving training.

alright...flame away

You know, I think waiting another year and using a GOOD outside stallion was a very responsible thing of Molly! She gelded her boy, which makes her even more respectable in my eyes - I know how hard that can be when you wanted them as a stallion. She has made some extremely impressive moves in her "breeding program" so

for that!

Just like in any other area in life (like nursing especially), I feel we should educate and help the best we can but at the end of the day it is their OWN choice... And we should be RESPECTFUL of that.

There were many on here that shared their history and background and as you can tell, everyone has a different story.

There are also many youth/young adults on this very forum that are expecting foals this year - I can think of 5! I remember Devon and Gage were both quite young when they had their first foal.

Molly this post shouldn't be about making you feel bad. Please ignore the few comments that are worded a bit harsh and reflect on some of the wonderful stories and advice given. This post was quite enjoyable for the most part.

I want to apologize. I typed out my saga just wanting to give my perspective and it turned out sounding like a lecture. I truly didn't mean it that way. I intended to help you see why some people are worried. I know my biggest worry was becaues I remembered when you first started posting and you had stated something about your parents not wanting to do something regarding money.

That just made me worry after reading all of the horrible foalings gone wrong posts from this season. The amount of vet bills these owners have incurred just trying to save their mares is not going to be a small amount. But you sound like you have thought all of this through. I did go and look at the pictures of your mares - and I like them! I also like the stallions that you have chosen and I really do think you are on the right track.

So if breeding is something you want then I say, "Good luck!" Truthfully, you have done a lot more research and work than a lot of adults I have seen.

Barbara

PS - I changed my mind and voted - and I think #3 will complement your mare very nicely.

I am a newbie to the the miniature horse world... just had my first foal two weeks ago. I couldn't have been as confident in the foaling if I hadn't been on this forum watching and asking for advice. These are really nice, informative, experienced people and I hope you continue to stay with this forum. I do understand your frustration with some of the comments, and I too feel some of them weren't given in the right context, but still think everyone on here has tons of experience adn help. Hoping you have as good luck as I had with my foaling experience and the colt is exactly what you order,

The point here IS...MRM asked specifically which stallion may be the best choice in other breeder's opinions. That was it...she did NOT ask IF she should breed her mare or how about possibly the quality of her stock nor if minis are being over bred. I feel she often gets a bad rap here because she is younger than many here, and has been poked and prodded in the past until she flies off the handle. She took a long break because of that, and has gathered her courage to come back here again, trying to just be a part of these family oriented forums, NOT to get preached to for every single topic/question that she posts. Maybe from now on you guys can try replying to her as though she were a mature longstanding, well known and liked person on this forum before replying. Reply to her as you would to them! If she comes on and asks IF she should breed a horse, or what your opinion is on the conformation of a horse of hers, fine, then give a totally honest response because she is then asking for it. That is NOT what she is asking here.

ABSOLUTEY, Mona! You hang in there, Molly! Yes, I admit I was upset with how you reacted last year, but you have truly matured and are asking good questions. Mona is right. Please don't give up Molly. You're doing o.k. on here. It's just that some people have such a passion about minis (not saying that's wrong 'cause I do too), that they feel it's their responsibility to make sure EVERY horse is taken care of to the topmost standard. Again, not that that's all bad, but sometimes they forget the human side of this equation, and that the "owner" loves their horse just as much as anyone else on this forum. O.K, now they can flame me!
