Would love to see pics. of black minis

I was thinking about the different post about different colored horses and I would love to see pictures of black minis. I love the color black for horses!

: If you could post pictures of them when they were foals and then when they are full grown that would be great! Thanks!!!

Here's my black son of Champion Farms Nighthawk, Oak Parks Hawks Resurrection. "Scotty" had a rough start in life, but overcame the obstacles in his path to become a beautiful stallion. He'll be 2 in 2007. Scotty is black with a blaze, and measures 30". He tested positive for frame overo, and homozygous for black. His foal picture shows him with some sunfade.

I love a nice black horse too. This is Cisco, actually he is a minimally marked frame overo but only has small white areas on sides and belly but his 2 back socks and blaze and blue eyes still make him flashy to me.

This is Skittles a splash with belly spot and 4 whites and blaze and blue eyes too. Shown with her 06 fillyby Cisco.

Here is a filly we sold shown here at gangly yearling stage but cute.

This is Obsession another flashy black girl with 1 blue and 1 brown eye and wild blaze and white black feet.

Oh I cant forget Velvet Our Black Velvet son.

Here is Magic Mist Wildfire, showing at Nationals (Kay, it reminds me of your show pic, our horses disappearing into the inky darkness, lol!)

Wildfire is actually an appaloosa but you have to look close to see it; she apparently prefers to go "incognito" lol!

This little filly is out of the same dam as Wildfire, born just as black, but she has white hooves with stripes and mottling and white hairs coming thru, so she won't be solid black for long (and please excuse the dam's fatness-- this was the day she gave birth)

and this filly, NJ's Some Kinda Cat-- she will stay black. She is ASPC/AMHR, and will mature at about 35". In this pic she is a weanling:

The pic I put up at first of "Kat" was not at all flattering, so I changed it-- here she is kicking up her heels.

This is my favorite black! Star Skipper. All natural and straight out of the pasture with just a bath and bridle path trim. He is always soooo shiny!

And his son Reflections Mark Of A Star with handler Becky of Redrock. Mark and Lacey have just received their World Top Ten. Mark now lives with Bill McKew in CA.

I know, I know. Skipper is a pinto, but his shoulder streak is his only body white so he is eligible isn't he?

No, I don't mind. Yeah it was really hard. He coliced really bad and the vet said he must have ruptured something, he died in my arms just a few days after we noticed he was sick. We dont' know what caused him to colic, I wish we could have saved him, he was a surprise for my fourteenth birthday present~my very first miniature horse. Its been almost a year since he died, he died on December 23, 2005. After the first couple of days he seemed to be getting better and then the morning he died I was walking him around and he just dropped, I couldn't get him up so I called in my mom and we managed to carry him to the barn, a few hours later he died with his little head in my arms. It was hard for me and I'm still not over it but I'm very glad that I got to spend the 10 months with him that I did, and he lived a very fulfilling life. Ironic to find this post when I logged on. I'm shopping for my next mini (or shetland).

I've looked at Cremellos, Buckskins, Roans, Appys, Paints...but nothing was quite striking me the right way.

Then I started looking at Silver Bays and Chestnut w/ flaxen...but I already have a nice Silver Bay w/ colt and I want something different.

Then I went to BLACK...solid, basic black...and I LIKE it!!
