Sounds pretty good to me..... (Veterinary Assistant and soon to be Veterinary Nutritional Advocate)

What is the label name??

Ashley

yes I would feed that food...you were smart for not putting the label name

I think you will get more truthful answer's.

If I could afford, I would definitely feed it to my dogs. I don't know the brand or the price, but going by the ingredients, it costs more than the food I'm using now. It looks good, I like the fact I don't see corn on the list and everything else looks really good.

Going by the ingredients, it sounds good quality. Is the fat content high? Or am I just used to "high fat" horse feeds having 6% fat? haha!

Yes, I would. It sounds like a good balanced dog food to me, without alot of fillers. (corn-based dog foods) Corinne

Is it Merrick's dog food? If so, I looked at that a while back and they have a few different kinds of meat.

Fran

Tarduckin, by Merrick??? I think this is a gourmet natural dog food...sounds similar to one I have tried, and my dog loved it.

Ok, SUE C.,..............how'd you know that???

YES it is the label from the Merrick Turducken Dry Food

I've been wanting to switch dog foods for awhile now. I've been feeding the same food for 7 years now, and I'm happy with it, but it contains 3 different corn ingredients as well as other icky things.

I saw the Merrick in a magazine and it turns out a place real close to me carries it, and I talked to the dealer today, so I'm pretty darn sure I've decided to switch.

It's definitely expensive. The food I've been getting is $28 for a 37.5 pound bag. The Merrick is $42 for a 30 pound bag. But I figure with the fact that it doesn't have fillers, I will probably feed less. And I'm hoping it will clear up a couple of skin allergies on one dog as well.

Thanks for the input everyone

My dogs love the meat treat things that they make, they look like square hunks of jerkey.

If I forget to give them one by about 7:00 PM they let me know about it.

They are a bit spendy so I break one in half and give each one half every night.

It looks ok, other than the Oatmeal and Barley in the first 4 ingredients. (I don't think they are too far from Corn as far as grain go IMO

My pups are on Chicken Soup for the Soul dog food, and I LOVE it, they look/act good and healthy on it, it's like $26 for 35lbs so if a bit pricy but not much more than the the merrick from what's posted here, and it doesn't have grains in the first 4 ingredients! Another one that's doing good but is pricey (but you feed literally 1/2 of the other brands) is Evo, it's high in protien but more like raw feeding but is in a more managable kibble type of food, everyone that I know that feeds it says a bag lasts as twice as long as other bags of other brands cause they have to feed twice the amount of other brands. So really it would cost about the same as other brands. I wish they woudl get it in this area but they won't.

I actually did look at the Chicken Soup For The Pet Lover's Soul foods. It was one of my top picks.

But I decided against it mainly because it contains Salmon. Nothing wrong with salmon, I know it's good for most animals, including us humans. But I have a personal hatred towards salmon (long story), and I can't stand the smell.

The Chicken Soup food also contains Egg Product which is on the no-no list on the Dog Food Project website.

It looks ok, other than the Oatmeal and Barley in the first 4 ingredients. (I don't think they are too far from Corn as far as grain go IMO
I will have to disagree with this statement.

Oatmeal is wonderful food for people and dogs. We know it's great at lowering people's cholesterol levels. It's also a great slow release carbohydrate that has little impact on blood sugar levels. It can also help with allergy problems. I believe Barley is similar, but I don't know much about barley.

Corn on the other hand is mostly sugar and starch and has a major impact on people's glucose levels, so I'd imagine it has a similar effect on dogs. And it's hard to digest.

Yes, sounds good. I also like Natural Balance. I really like the looks of the Evo.

Robin

well like I said it's just my opinion, and you asked what others thought of the food.

I'll have to look into the egg stuff, that's the first I've heard of egg products not being good for dogs. I know you have to be careful with raw eggs cause of the bacterial aspects but cooked I've not heard anything bad about. Would you care to share the web site you got the info from? You never can find too much info to learn from.

Funny how I could recognize the ingredients when I read them...yet at my stage of life...it is difficult to remember what I had for supper...weird huh??

Yes, my dog loved it, the biggest problem is that I have to drive 1 1/2 hours to get to the city, where they sell it. I can't find anyplace local that will bring it in...

So...my dog goes with Purina, which is a great food as well. I will be looking into a senior feed soon, I think...as he is getting on.

First I've ever heard of eggs being bad for dogs. ?? I always give my pregnant ******* whole hard boiled egg, shells and all...it's a great protein source.

I simply can't afford to feed the Chicken Soup food to ten dogs. I do have two of them on Wellness Whitefish and Sweet Potato formula, one for allergy reasons and the other because it's the only dog food she's ever truly loved in her life(she's 9 years old!) and that is costly enough.

I've never seen the Merrick's food around this area (mid-Michigan).
