We got the 40 acres!!! I am just sooo beside myself right now.... somebody pinch me!

Our mini's will soon have a place to call home and we can mess with them all the time before too long now!

Still working on a farm name. What is the difference between a ranch and a farm? Is a ranch a "working operation" and a farm is a family fun place... thats what I always picturesed it as... or is it something else?

Karen,

How awesome for you! :aktion033: Can't wait to see your joyful reunion with them all soon!

: I'm not sure on the "technical" definition of each, LOL, but I've always just taken a ranch to be a large operation with lots of land and a farm to be a smaller run operation, but both can either be just for family fun or a "working" operation, or better yet...both.

: I'm sure others will chime in with more fine tuned terms to better define them both for you though. CONGRATULATIONS again, on your new future! :aktion033:

Awww that's great, good luck to you & your mini's, I'll be looking for updates  . I'm not quite sure in the difference between a rach 7 a farm... it's not something I've thought about lately.

Congratulations! ;-) And as far as ranch/farm go... When I named my place we had about 40 acres, and I called it Sky Eyes Ranch... NOW we have only 8 acres(we rent 20+ more), and my place is still Sky Eyes Ranch... LOL So I guess it might not be politicaly correct, but oh well! :bgrin

I always think of a ranch as a" horse and cattle" operation, and a farm as an "any kind of critter that you want" place. I also think of a ranch as being "out west". When naming your new place, try out the sound of the words together, and use what sounds best. Good luck to you on your new endeavor, and congratulations on your new home!

:aktion033: congratulations :aktion033:

i always thought of a ranch as being "out west" and a farm as mid-west and east and south... also, to me horses (and beef cattle) is a ranch (with milk cows being a dairy) and lots of different animals, including a milk cow or two LOL, along with growing stuff - corn, wheat, whatever - is a farm... however we used to have goats and chickens here too... we are ONLY 4.6 acres total, including house and driveway and EVERYTHING... and we are Painted Promise Ranch.

i agree with just sounding it out and picking what sounds best to you!

:aktion033: congratulations :aktion033: again!!!!
