    2024 Hours Driven

One hour ground driving Peanut this week. I hand walked Oatie twice. Worked on keeping the bend on circles and keeping them round, Peanut tends to fall in going to the right which is my fault with keeping proper contact,

    farrier question

My farrier doesn't use a hoof stand on the minis and my pony. He rests the foot on his knee. He tried to use on on my pony but it was too awkward for them both.

    Billy

Looking good Billy! I love his halter, is it leather? Where did you get it?

    Germany bans young horse training

Well, I don't know anyone who would want to halter break a 2 1/2 year old unhandled warmblood stallion. This sounds nuts. I really wish the racing industry would come to an end but they seem to be untouchable.

    Rabies

That is scary. I do titers on mine most years. This year I did do the rabies vaccinations on two of mine, but Cappy had surgery so we didn't want to stress him (and his titer was good). It's so hard to deal with vaccinations when you have reactive horses. I'm curious if they knew if the horse...

    Cart mounted shooting?

What a hot mess I'd be in if I tried that with mine 😆!

    Walking/Hiking with your minis 2024

Since I last posted I've walked about 90 minutes with Oatie and 45 with Cappy.

    farrier question

I have one, or something similar. I found it hard to work for some reason. It did rasp the hoof OK but I couldn't quite get the hang of it. I blamed it on being left handed 😁. I had better luck with a rasp.

    Billy

I'd do the rabies titer. I do on mine every year. Have you had him checked for Cushing's? That might be something to check too. Please don't ever think you needed to take better care of Dapper Dan, he got the best care and had the best home a horse could have. He was a very lucky little...

    2024 Hours Driven

I don't know what to think about the cause really. It does seem to be a newer malady, I never heard of horses having this 50 years ago. Or maybe they did and we didn't notice, but I think it would've be noticable. I wonder about the vaccines too. There are so many to give now, and every few...

    2024 Hours Driven

The EOTHR (I always get the letters out of order!) is a mean thing. I didn't know much about it until it happened to Oatie. The roots get huge and bulbous causing pain. Oatie seems so much happier with the teeth out, of course he's still on some banamine but he's chewing great and is feeling...

    2024 Hours Driven

Billy is a smart boy to stay away from politics 😁 ! 1.5 hours ground driving Peanut this week. My Cappy and Oatie both had teeth out this week, it's been awfully stressful. Cappy had a recurring sinus infection from a root and had to go to Tuft's university for surgery. Then when he...

    Calming Paste For Mini

He looks like a smart one! He'll catch on to the idea of clipping quickly I bet. My three actually enjoy being clipped now. We make a big deal out of it, lots of love and pampering. I clip slow cause I have bad hands so I give them a break and do it in sections. He's gonna do fine!

    Calming Paste For Mini

Hi Guy, I've never found the calming supplements to work. Have you tried any desensitization with the clippers? If you spend some time rubbing the clippers over them (while they are not running) until they are comfortable with it and then slowly introducing the running clippers, they usually...

    Allergic reactions

My welsh pony is 500 lbs. 5 citerizine pills once a day work well on his hives.
