    To the Divorcees...

I had suggested counseling a couple of times also when things were getting kinda bad for me... he flatly refused every time. He said I could go but he wasnt, after all, I was the one with all the 'issues' over the way things were going. (yes, HE was my issue). When he told me on a serious real...

    Do You Think Silver Black????

She is silver, which means one of the parents is really a silver and not what they 'appear' to be. Silver can hide under red, so perhaps the chestnut is not really a chestnut. Got pics of the parents?

Would like suggestions on tests to ask vet for?

Yes about the hay QUALITY. And I agree- I love the Purina Sr- I have used the adult and Jr. too with great success! But again, if the teeth are bad, doesnt matter what or how much you are feeding...

Would like suggestions on tests to ask vet for?

Have not read all the posts but when was the last time their teeth were checked for hooks, spikes, etc...?? No matter what or how much you feed them, if they cannot chew properly, they will not do well. If you have not had this done, I would certainly check both of them for any dental issues...

    Shirley Temple died

What a wonderful person and a great loss. My family too grew up watching her movies that I think were just delightful. Always a favorite and truly a sad loss. She was one in a million.

    To the Divorcees...

By the way, we had many discussions too, all were a waste of time and breath. Nothing every changed except for my frustration level.

    To the Divorcees...

Yep, been there done that and put up with it for 13 years. I am MUCH happier and better off on my own. And never again will I ever be put in that position!!! EVER. He needs to take a hike and I agree- sell the Xbox and anything else you can to help pay the bills since you are a one income...

    Tomcat spraying

I have had some stop spraying after being neutered and a few that didnt. Being neutered does reduce a lot of that territorial stuff that makes them want to spray.

AMHA new Halter Stock Horse Division!

I think this is awesome!!!!!!! There are many folks out there with beautiful horses but just cant compete in the 'greyhound' classes that I have seen halter leaning towards. (though they are stunning as well) I think this is just another step in promoting a versatile aspect of the Mini world.

    So, I heard.....

Ok, on the whole, compared to their growth rate the first year, no they do not grow MUCH after their first year- not like they do from birth to 12 months. But they do still grow and mature. I also have had them stop at 18 months and some grew til they were about 3, but it was a MUCH slower...

    Growing the mane

I rubber band it down with conditioner- when it gets long enough, braid it so it lays over. I then use a slinky before shows and that really flattens it down. I think by June you may be ok.

    Hay-Alfalfa

I have fed straight alfalfa for 40 years now, as most everyone in the southwest does. It is not something you want to free feed, as your horses will get way too fat. Depends on how much is in the mixture of hay you have. The only horses that should probably not get alfalfa are ones who have...

    Nationals VS. Worlds

Many of us here have gone to Nationals a few times (and LOVE it) and none of us have Shetlands and did pretty well. Minis basicly ARE Shetlands, lol- just with 'different' papers. If its a good horse, and is ready for that kind of competition, go for it- either one would be great.

    How long to wrap/sweat necks?

I think the question means how long until they would be show ready? How long to prepare before the first show? Two weeks? Four? Two months?

    Clipping for warm weather?

I am also in Arizona and I would never clip in winter. He will shed on his own when it's time. Though our temps are milder than the rest of the nation, this is still winter to us and he needs his hair. Winter is not over yet, though we have been having warmer temps than usual it seems. If a...
