    Precious new barn kittens!

Hey everyone! Thought you'd like to see our ADORABLE new barn kitties!!! First, a story I think is pretty cool about the Mama cat. So a little over 2 months ago, this gray and white cat starts hanging around my barn. We board, she's one of the resident cats, but she decided that she wanted...

    Insomnia

Hey there Gage! Last year I got this awful illness, started as an infection, then turned into bronchitis and pnemonia. It was terrible. I couldn't say a single word without hacking 3 times between each breath, so I had to take a bunch of cough medicine. Problem is I'm allergic to the main...

    Appaloosa breeding question

Weeelll Appy isn't nearly as black and white as the pinto patterns - pun not intended. They are a bit more complicated, and significantly less reliable. You can breed two leopards together and get a solid. I believed that happened to someone on the forum just recently... Snowcaps and fewspots...

Question for those that breed a stallion that is homozygous

Braid a ribbon in their tails! I wonder how that Triple K farm does it... with buckskin after buckskin....

You guys are going to think I'm crazy...

At least he won't be afraid of bycicles!!! Last year I was working with a horse that was terrified of motorcycles, so for a long time I ponied her off of my bycicle. Then I added pop cans to it to make an obscene amount of noise.... it's the best I could do since I don't got a Harley. I now...

Your farm's first bred, first born

I won't have my first homebred foals till next year, but I will always always always have my little boy who I bought as a 3 month old with his dam. There's just something special about that first training experience with a youngin. His first Big Boy Walk without momma, his first bath, first vet...

    What would you do?

So sorry for your loss! When my mare lost her foal, I got a mare with a foal at her side that looked exactly like the one I lost. He is 4 this year, and we have such a special bond, he'll jump up into the truck, and he still lays down in my lap. ..... and this is how mini's become like potato...

    Runaway in cart

I'm not by any means a very experienced driver, but what your mare does sounds a lot like what my newest mini mare Fancy used to do, perhaps could be a similar thing.... Fancy is also a SUPER sensitive mare, the slightest little thing will bother her. She is very very sweet and quiet, but she...

Where have you had your best luck selling horses?

I haven't sold a thing, but I found 5 of my 6 minis here on the sale board. The 6th one I got from a friend... who I believe found her here.

    Coincidence or something more?

I haven't done a whole heck of a lot of research, but if there is a genetic component, I wish breeders would DO SOMETHING about it!!!!!! My little boy Charm had coliced 13 times by the time he was 3 years old! 7 of them required hospital visits. For a $500 horse, I sure have put thousands into...

    Trotting like he means business

WOW! He's so beautiful, I love him!! You plan on driving him in the future too? (That's a suggestion more than a question, lol!)

    Just for a little fun

When you've spent 8 hours at the barn, then drive away, and by the time you get home you think "I miss my babies!!!"

    Color experts....

He's pretty dark, I'd assume smokey cream. Course I really haven't been keeping up with what the registries allow for colors, if they recognize smokey cream. Perlino is a possibility, they are often born that dark. Testing for agouti would tell you for sure.

    Who do you dream about??

I wanted a black horse with a white mane and tail. Got her. Sugar. I wanted a horse with a bald face and blue eyes to drive. Got her. Ghost. I wanted a BLM Mustang big horse......... Got her two months ago! Xena. Now I just wish I could find a sorrel/flaxen or silver bay with a bald...

    Pinto pattern restriction genes

Man I was gone too long, I've missed these fascinating color topics! You know, I do vaguely (very very vague) remember on here some discussion on silver affecting gray. Wow that was a long time ago. In any case, grays no matter what they carry are different as far as speed, from horse to...

    Pinto pattern restriction genes

Well, sabino can often intensify the pattern, and make splashes much louder... so perhaps your last stallion carried sabino, which was making the babies louder, and the new guy doesn't. One isolated snip on the nose is usually an indicator of splash so I bet these babies carry it, just not to...
