Such decisions are incredibly tough to make. You were there and made the choice based on the best of your knowledge with the foals best interest in mind. That's all you can do. Sorry for your loss. Believe me, I know how you feel and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

It seems to me that the great state of Taxes is getting awful pushy lately. I'd trust Mitz to my horse's teeth before any "vet". The state has robbed us of our right to choose the best care for our animals. They've also robbed him of a job that he has been dedicated to for a very long time.

I'm glad this guy stopped so that you know that it was an accident. It's not that this fact makes it any easier to deal with the loss, but rather that you at least know what happened and that she was being prayed for and comforted to the end. So sorry that this happened...such a shame.

Give us more details: About how old would you say she is? Any training? House broke? Any knowledge of previous medical care? IS SHE FIXED? Does she stay close to the house or wander a lot? How would you rate her activity level? Got any pics you can post?
