    Teeth Floating

For power floats, all you have to do do is look it up in all the equine health magazines. Good magazines to get good information on horse health are Equus and The Horse Health magazine (I think that is the title). Most equine dentist will tell you the same thing. The only way it is safe is if...

    Teeth Floating

Equine Dentist are the only way to go. They are very reasonable compared to vets and know what they are doing. Gary Fluhr is also a good equine dentist from KY. He charges $50 a horse plus farm call. As for power tools used for dentistry, there have been extensive studies which have proved...

    hardship inspectors

Hello I am looking at a mare that I would like to hardship into AMHA if I get her. Could someone tell me is it only the directors of your area that can do the inspection or is there other places or people that are qualified to do (like at a show)? Thanks for the help.

    @$#@#% AMHR!

Well I can agree we have all had our problems with both registries. Even though mine is not a color problem, I did have AMHR mess up one of my last papers I sent in to be transferred. Though it is not a real big deal, they changed it with out asking. I co-own a stallion with a friend. I sent...

    Stud chains in mouths

This thread has been very interesting to read. All the different responses. First off there will be come a time to use a stud chain, whether on the nose, under the chin or in the mouth, there will be a time. It all boils down to how it is used. ANY method can be used to the point of cruelty...

    What color is this mare?

How old is she? What color are her parents? She looks sorrel with flaxen mane and tail. It almost looks like she may have some roaning. Does she? If so, I would call her a sorrel sabino. If she is young (2-3 yrs.) she could be a silver bay. I had a mare that did not get the gray tint to her...

    Busy snackers :)

Nice to know. While I haven't used the busy snackers yet but I have the hay nets with the 2" holes and love them. It takes the horses longer to eat their food and keeps them busy. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

    Mare with foal looks thin

Just one more suggestion. I have fed founder mares during their pregnancy and after they foaled. The key to keeping them sound and healthy is a very strict diet that is not changed from day to day. You must get your mare on a more consistant diet. She should be fed the same thing every day. My...

    Mare with foal looks thin

You didn't say what kind of hay you are feeding her. Hay type would make a difference in what amounts of grain you feed her. But it does sound like you are not feeding her enough. Feeding a foal for some mares is more draining on her than being in foal. This is what I feed my mares with foals...

yrling mini lying down, eyes shut, rolls intermittently

I think it sounds like a mild case of colic. It can be ulcers but I think she needs to be looked at. I don't know where you are at, but if if is hot things can turn for the worst real fast. Either way she needs fluids and ulcer meds., because colic can cause ulcers. Good luck and I hope it is...

    Sales gone bad...

Well I just briefly read over the comments on this subject. I have been at the receiving end of bad deals. Yes, I do ask all the questions and usually get pictures. The bad thing about pictures is so many people don't know how to take decent pictures or they refuse to take fuzzy pictures. Or...

How long is it taking to get Registration Paper back

Hello I just want to vent. AMHA has had 2 registration papers for 3 MONTHS. I called yesterday and left a message inquiring about them. Had to call again today and they said they where just scanned this morning. I said, "really, you have had them for 3 months". All she said was "well we are...
