I can honestly say not being able to find a horse to purchase at Nationals has never been a problem for me in fact usually quite the opposite!

I wonder if the increase is due in part to the *hardshipping* cases of allowing those to enter the show that did not have the ability to meet the qualifying requirements. It will be interesting to see if that is the case and if so if then intend to revisit the requirement procedure.

While of course Shetlands do work the rail they are judged on movement on the profile not so much tracking straight at the trot. I have seen some ponies do what I have always called paddling when watching them from the front or back and not really track straight however they look amazing...

You also have to remember aged horses sometimes need more then the usual amount of hay to stay in good condition through the winter.
