2 Foals for me this weekend....

1st one came around 10 pm Fri night. A 17" sorrel pinto filly with a few paw prints,

And around 6 this morning a 21" gray/black overo (?) colt,

I let the mares and foals out for picture taking, as it has been raining alot here this week. A muddy mess out. Then, back to the barn.

Now for the question.??? The colt's sire is a bucksin overo, pic below. The mare is solid buckskin, and has never thrown any white on foals.

Could this colt be overo? His legs and his belly look all white. So wondering if the colt is splash overo?

I will test for it, but curious what other splash overo colts look like as foals.

Its hard to say with out seeing a side shot, but what I can see he looks to be silver dapple/ silver black- solid with blaze

Congratulations on your new foals. The colt looks like he's be silver black and what you are seeing as white, MAY be just the lighter "frosted" areas of his coat. That said however, with his blaze, and knowing his sire is lab tested LWO+, you should test the colt to find out for sure if he carries it as well.

The colt looks Silver Black to me, and the blaze means he is carrying a Pinto pattern, as Mona says:

for LWO!!!

These mini foals always susprise me.

Like this colt....a solid buckskin mare and a buckskin overo stallion and I get......

a silver looking colt with a blaze!!!

Like I said to myself.......where does the blaze come from???

Neither parent has a blaze!!!!

Believe me I am not dissapointed at all......

he is very handsome. And soo correct.
