I have a lovely friend who is a very talented tailor. She can sew whatever comes to her mind and makes the most divine doll clothes! She's refurbished a number of sewing machines and has graciously agreed to teach my daughter and I how to sew. I have my heart set on creating a winter riding skirt - heavy woolen fabric and a very full skirt so it will drape over a horse when in the tack, also wonderfully warm for winter driving. Now to go fabric shopping!

Oh, that is a wonderful idea! I could totally see a double or even triple circle skirt, or a gathered skirt with large godets, in gray, black, navy blue or a hunter green, and near ankle length. It sure as heck won't be cheap, but now you got my mind running. One thing I'd do was make the waist adjustable, to deal with weight fluctuations and/or allow to wear layers of clothing comfortably.
