Hey Kathy, glad your mom is ok. Too bad about the car but things can be replaced, people can't.

In defense of the driver, I have a big diesel 4x4 and am a good snow driver but sometimes the weight of the truck takes me where I don't want to go.

Mom checked out fine. No problems showed up and she feels fine.

Turns out the woman was on drugs. They charged her, but not sure what with, we've not followed up yet.

Thanks for your support. I just can't emphasize enough about driving safe and WATCHING out for those who aren't. As Liz (nootka) said, leave that cushion of space in front of you. My mom was stopped at a stoplight and even though there was nothing she could do about being hit from behind, the fact that she had left a good space between her and the car in front of her kept her from rear-ending that car when she was hit.
