I am flying to Vegas in a few months and have been looking for tickets. They seem pretty expensive right now. So i am wondering if they might go up or down. I dont know if I should book yet or not? Of course I want them as cheap as I can get...

Anyone had experience with this.

Thanks

I think they will go up, the sooner you can get your ticket the better IMO. Do you have Airtran that flies out of an airport near you? Feb of 2008 we flew from Flint, Mi to Las Vegas non stop for $219 round trip a piece...that was picking our seats ahead of time too (which cost an xtra $20)...when we got to the airport we upgraded to first class for only $40 each..that was only one way though. It was a B717 that we flew on.

That's a tricky thing to tell because Sonya is right.

Up here at least, the prices get cheaper and cheaper, until a certain point (whether they hit a certain number on the flight, or a certain number of days before it leaves I'm not sure) but once it hits that point, the price starts increasing.

I booked my Colorado trip about 6 weeks before I left. Two days later the price started increasing.

I flew to Detroit from Nashville twice last year. The first time was last January and I paid around $250.00 round trip and bought my ticket close to a month in advance. I was there for 6 days I believe. The second time I flew up there was the day before Thanksgiving, on Wednesday. I bought my ticket Tuesday evening and the price was the same as when I flew up there in January and this time I was only up there for 3 days.

When I bought my ticket in January the lady at the airlines told me its always better to buy your ticket at least 3 weeks in advance for the best rate.

If you go to www.kayak.com and plug in your departure and arrival cities plus your travel dates, the website will give you a list of different fares on various airlines.

You can then hit 'chart view' and you will be able to see the fare history for the flight you want, which will help you determine if it's a good time to buy your ticket, or if it's likely to go down again.

Thanks for the advice. I will fly out of St. Louis. I checked kayak.com, very cool, I hadnt heard of that one.. The prices today on there were cheaper than 2 days ago, that I was getting online... I am still 3 months out before I go-I just want to book my flight at the right time and at a good price...

Thanks

I bought tickets directly on the Airtran website about 2 months ago for a trip in March. $169 roundtrip nonstop Flint, MI to Ft. Myers, FL...I just looked and now it is $265.

sites like Kayak.com and Orbitz.com etc all add booking fees onto the price if you book through them. I have found that I can look on kayak and orbitz etc and then go to the airline's website and get the price within a dollar or two and I book that instead of paying the booking fees of the website. We fly Allegientair.com, they do fly out of Springfield, mo. They are cheap and decent especially for the price.

Does anyone know of a website where you can select fly ANYTIME and ANY DATE to get the cheapest rates?

cheaptickets.com is a good one that I use. I need to get my San Diego tickets this weekend. I have been putting it off, but the AMHA convention is coming soon.
